Wow! An actual honest sales guy.
Had Long Home Products out this Spring to look at the roof. House is 11 years old and it's a QBH builder's grade shingle.
Salesman did a thorough inspection and said "Boss will be disappointed, but I think your roof has 5 - 10 more years."
We then asked him about Solar, said for the time we plan to stay in Maryland, would not be a good return on investment.

New one just hit the neighborhood. Mars Renovations. Heard the doorbell, peeked out the window. Van parked on the road with a nice logo wrap. Watched as at least 4 people got back into the van after hitting all the neighbors at once, then drove up the road and did it again.

This is the one that checked my roof and said it didn't need to be replaced. Surprised the hell out of me.

That's who they were. They came out to my house a couple of days ago. I was wondering why I didn't hear any cars pull up then saw he was driving/riding a little scooter. Very young and pleasant guy, but I have no need for their services. He left after thanking me politely and wishing me a nice day.

They were in Leonardtown yesterday afternoon. Answered the door, with it half open. He was polite enough, but told him not interested. He insisted to continue conversation. Opened the door fully exposing the Sig on my side. He thanked me and walked away for some reason.

Just had another at the door, didn't answer it.

bet he won’t ignore a bad dog sign again.
Going to get a couple of No Soliciting signs, but a mad dog sign sounds like a plan too. And I can wire the doorbell button to a digital recording of a mad dog.

If your dog is actually a biter, you might want to avoid the video evidence. Maryland, like California, will allow you to be sued for the actions of an animal on your property even if the person is trespassing.

Dog owners aren't liable for injuries caused by their dogs when the injured person was:

  • trespassing or attempting to trespass on the owner's property
  • committing or attempting to commit a criminal offense against any person or on the property of the owner, or
  • teasing, tormenting, abusing, or provoking the dog.

They were in St. Leonard communities yesterday trying to drum up business.
They were at our house in Montgomery County two weeks ago. That is why we just put a No Soliciting sign in our yard. We will see if it works. Long time, no talk to. Hope all is well.

Got a visit from Segway guy yesterday evening but didn't bother answering the doorbell. They are really doing a good job of covering the area.

It's actually a little disconcerting. Not too long ago, thieves in this area would walk up and ring the doorbell and pose as a repair person or something. If no one answered, the house got hit. Happened to me a few years back. Went out for breakfast, came back to a ransacked house. Fortunately, the video security system caught them and they were identified.

So now many of us are not answering the doorbell. Sure, many of these knockers are 'legit' repair companies, but someone could be using this mass door knocking to hide in plain sight, and check out the house for a potential hit. If it is a setup, are people in danger of intrusion while they are home?

Stay vigilant.

Bless the poor fool that kicks my door in if I am still home. He'll leave worry free and not breathing.
