Bug Killers on a Segway

A guy came to my house at 8:30 last night (Hollywood area). I know the company name on the guy's shirt started with an A, but can't remember it now. I looked online and didn't see anything that sounded like it for the tri county area.
He was on foot as far as I could tell. We have a hilly, windy private road and a rather long, windy, hilly, gravel driveway off of that so a Segway wouldn't have gotten him far. Je wasn't rude or anything, but I hate it when the try to use your neighbor's names to get you to sign up.
He bothered to.go that far off the road to get to you?

Yes! And then I almost didn't notice he was there because he knocked instead of using the doorbell, and, since no vehicle I didn't hear anyone come up. We can usually hear cars on the road pretty easily, especially up by the house. Wouldn't have answered, but we have had people get stuck on our road often enough that we thought it could've a neighbor asking for help with something like that and that's why there was no vehicle...

Dedication?

When I was looking to buy a house, I looked at one I really liked. It was way back on Peaches Hideaway off Sotterley. As a single parent, I didn't want to be that remote for many reasons. Uninvited people was one of those reasons. I settled on one set back enough off the road that I hardly get solicitors or trick or treaters.

I did get one creeper on a bicycle that completely freaked out my then 9y/o and myself so much I showed him my rifle when he refused to leave. He left and never came back.

That would have scared the hell put of me!!
The closest I came was with some seafood company that the guys were very pushy and when they left they tore our driveway up. I followed them to my "next door" neighbor's house and my retired Navy security specialist neighbor made them come back with shovels and fill in the trenches they had dug. 🤣 Never saw them again!

Oh yeah, husband said the guy was on the main road into our hood on the Segway when he came from work today. These guys are all over, it seems!

He was in Birch Manor this past week. A different company 2 weeks before that. Very pushy, doesn't like to be told no. My German Shepherd was ready to come through the window at him. Maybe shoulda let her out and eat the Segway, lol.

The guy that stopped at my place wasn't particularly pushy. I asked for a business card or literature, he had none, you could see in his eyes he knew where this was going. Told him I had a service and no thanx, and he left.

One of them Segway bug killers was in Pembrooke this afternoon, young guy named Anthony.

He started, I held up one hand to stop him and with the other pointed to the No Soliciting sign under my doorbell.
I asked him if he knew what that means, deer in the headlights look, especially when I pointed out that both of my garage doors have No Soliciting signs on them.
I also told him he needed to leave the subdivision as there are No Soliciting signs at the entrance.

He did notice the USAF pin on my cap, as I was getting ready to leave for Lowe's and did have a nice chat. His brother is in the USAF, currently stationed at Aviano.

I saw him going around to bug the neighbors as I drove off.

New one just hit the neighborhood. Mars Renovations. Heard the doorbell, peeked out the window. Van parked on the road with a nice logo wrap. Watched as at least 4 people got back into the van after hitting all the neighbors at once, then drove up the road and did it again.

I had one of those roofing companies stop by the house a month ago (Essex South). He said they were in the neighborhood to repair roofs with storm damage. This was after we went over a month with no rain or storms. I pointed out my roof was immaculate since it was replaced three years ago. I asked if he even looked at the roof as he walked up and I got that deer in the headlight type of stare. Then he acted offended. HE was offended for wasting MY time. I invited him to leave my property with or without police assistance. The mention of law enforcement was all that was needed. He walked rather briskly down the street to the next block.

Bug guys were in Town Creek/E Farms the other day. The young man touted they took care of all sorts of pests. I asked if they would come running when I had another copperhead by the house. They don't do snakes. Forgot to ask about groundhogs....

Did they say anything about annoying neighbors?

Polite young feller in a white uniform stopped by the compound last week to offer the bug eradication service. I declined but told him he'd probably do well pedaling that service on SGI. We're never short of skeeters.

I had someone come by my house with the same pitch a month ago. My roof is 20 years old so I figured it wouldn't hurt to have him check it out. He went topside, walked around, and took a few pics. When he came down, he actually said my roof was fine and did not need to be replaced. He pointed out a couple of spots that may need attention down the road at some point but over all, the roof is fine. Wow! An actual honest sales guy.
