Businesses in SOMD Still Scared of 'Rona

Call 'em out here.

I went to one today that lost my business because their doors are still closed to the public - Phil Reihl's State Farm Insurance office. I needed a new policy - checkbook in hand ready to buy, but their doors were closed so I went to another insurance company and bought a $700 policy because their doors were open. That was easy.

After 2 years and you are still scared of the public coming into your business? Oh hell no - I don't need you. I bet those same employees who are scared of me coming into their place of business are still going to WalMart/Target/Giant to do their shopping everyday.

Lowe's mandates masks or face shields for all employees in the store, regardless of "vaccination" status.
No such requirement for customers.

Only virus I have had in the past 2 years was a non-COVID intestinal bug that ruined my Labor Day weekend, and a few days before and after.

Only thing I've seen was the shoe store in WW has a sign saying masks are required by law.

I haven't even kept a mask in my purse in almost a year. So far I've seen one place - a kitchen store in Apalachicola - that required masks to enter. Nobody was in there.

I do too, a little bit smug, but always looking over my shoulder for Karen.
I’ve been fortunate, knock on wood, but I haven’t run into one of those since about three or four months into the whole Rona panic.

I’ll probably have to deal with it before it’s all over I’m sure.

That’s odd. I’ve been in Phil Reihl's office a few times during the COVID but most of my State Farm business is done over the phone or online, even for starting a new policy.

The door was locked today at 2:30with a sign on the door about Covid and appointments.

A lot of places used covid to save a buck by reducing hours, getting rid of employees etc. Pretty shitty, but they could have used it as an excuse to get rid of people. I knew an Allstate agent that fired all his assistants only to hire his wife and daughter.

Well, not every transaction requires a visit. In fact, in the last year and a half, I bought new homeowners ins and new vehicle ins through that office. All done over the phone and email.

Any business that has phone calls, faxes, folks coming in the office and is not having family health or a disaster going on, needs to keep business hours. Its part of owning and operating a viable business....

I havent set foot in an insurance office in over 20 years, it's one of those buisnesses that doesnt need a physical location. I havent been into a bank in probably 5 years, most of my cash is in a bank that to my knowledge doesnt even have a physical location but has terrific customer service.

O k, the last time (2 years ago) I changed auto/motorcycle insurance companies..
I had to bring all I insured to his office for pictures. We have two State Farm brokers in our small town and both are open 5 1/2 days a week. Farm Bureau, Indiana Farmers and at least one independent all keep at minimum mon-fri 8-5 hours. When you drive by all have customers cars in the lot and most times you see customers walking in or out.
I use a local bank for business for the soul reason we all know each other. but for personal I use Navy Federal CU and they dont have a branch in Indiana.
I believe personal banking will continue to fade away but its gonna be tough to depost cash without some system in place to deposit it locally.
