Ok. So, is it difficult to believe that one animal species could evolve in two separate directions thus creating two similar, but distinctly different animals?

Another SMIB is born!!! :jameo:

Ok...

I have said it a dozen times....
WHAT IS YOUR DATING METHOD?

I read the article....doesn't even hint at what they used.

2nd: If they have the skull, they have an estimate of the CC capacity. The complexity comes from the estimated age of Selam when they died...mature? Young?...base it on the skull fissures. This assumed age (upon death) will cause the estimate of brain capacity to fluctuate too.

The article hinted at a number of inigmas and factors that destabilize models of the Australopithicines. If there is an estimated 100,000 years between it and Lucy...how much "evolution" has taken place?????
Many of the Paleoanthroplogists will be uncomfortable with assessing a list of major changes in what they consider to be a "short" period of time.
Evolution is just NOT supposed to go fast!

Lastly: if you want to make a hominid look more primitive:
a) move the jaw foward ever so slightly
b) emphisize the brow ridge
c) Have National Geographic draw a furry version carrying a club and dragging a gazelle.

Read, think, evaluate, compare, research...and my Christian faith is unshaken.

I'm still trying to figure out why people think that creation and evolution are mutually exclusive...

:yeahthat: Evolution doesn't match a literal reading of the Bible, but Christianity and Biblical literalism aren't the same thing. I'm curious to know if any of the Jewish sects read the Creation account in Genesis literally. From my reading, there are numerous creation stories among the world's religions.

Tell us how you really feel about this Tonio! If you don't get it right, I'm gonna send the Jehovah Witness people to your house and tell them not to leave until you are SAVED!

Let me guess, there was a big bang... BOOOMMMM... then plankton and amoeba in a pond started gettin' their groove on which created lizards, fish and then... unexpectedly and of course "unexplained" some more big bangs.... BOOOOOM... then it created walking fish that came out and then more big bang BOOMS, there's now apes, then with fine tuning over the years, we lost a few hairs, got a straighter back, somehow our eyes started getting more colors like green, hazel and blue and our brains started getting smater? Uhh... yeah! I'll buy that  I've probably pizzed off everyone noncreationist, that's just my silly view... no harm intended.
No some super being took a handful of dust and "POOF" there was a man.. then he took a rib from the man and "POOF" there was a woman.. except the man and woman have the same number of ribs.

Yep, that's a LOT more believable then the other "BOOM" theory!

Well said Dems. Many people would agree with you but it does tend to irritate the non-creationists. :howdy:

I didn't know God used a handful of dust! Is this true? Oh, and I never really noticed the ribs on the women I see. I am usually looking at something else.

I think sending Jehovah’s Witness's to Tonio's home would be punishment to the Jehovah's Witness's.

I am a Christian. I believe that all animals evolve to fit their environment. We can see this in humans from as little as 500 years ago. I don't believe we evolved from apes. I don't think most scientist believe that we evolved from apes. But do you think that we look just like the very first humans?

Amen !!!
They can be "improved" apes if they want to,
But I was created by a Master Creator !!!!!!!

Here's the biggest misconception about evolution. Man evolved from apes.

No, man did not evolve from apes. Both current apes and homosapian evolved from the same ancestor which being so old did not really resemble the current incarnation of either. This is why there are still apes on the planet and a 98 percent genetic similarity. Furthermore species of humans did not follow one after another, but many lived at the same time. (Like there are multiple species of dogs whose ancestry can be traced back to a common mother.) Neanderthal is not an ancestor of Homosapien, but more like a cousin.

Actually I believe it was clay.

I don't believe the Bible was meant to be taken literally. It was written through interpretations of many different writings throughout the ages.

Interpretation of the writings within the Bible continue even today which is one reason we have so many different religions today.

Here's an interesting website that may answer some questions: http://www.biblediscoveries.com/creation.html

Now....Take the bone structure of Selam...
and set it side by side with the bones of a chimp, or a variation of some of the dead species.

Bet you a whole lot: they will never do that...and I know why, and so should you.
If they are scared of the similarities: they will never make the comparison.

Here's the comparison. Left is chimp, right is Australopithecus africanus from 1947 (since I have no side shot of the one in the article).

Further, Nature does just such a comparison in their article:

Then how do we know its not monkey and ape skulls they are finding, then passing it off as humans if their bone structures are that drastically identical , its not like the come out the ground talking and dancing or anything
