Cabin in the Moutains

There are a number of cabins in Shenandoah National Park. Administered by the Potomac Appalachain Trail Club. Corbin Cabin is supposed to be quite nice.

We stayed at a place in Berkeley Springs, WV called the "Gamekeeper's Cottage".

According to the literature: "Change your perception of charma nd rustic lucury for all time. Spend a night-or-forever- in the Gamekeeper's Cottage. Set in untouched meadows and woodlands near historic Sleepy Creek, this magical place offers peace and satisfaction to all who venture near. An antique-filed 18th Century log cabin located just 5 miles from the historic Town of Bath, the Cottage has three bedrooms overlooking a private pond. The country kitchen, woodburning stove, and claw-foot tub complete the fantasy."

"From the romantic pine hacienda bed heaped high with down comforters and soft pillows to the old fashioned front porch, the delights of country living surround you. Hike, cross-country ski, fish, birdwatch, and see many species of wildlife, all without leaving our country lane.

"When you've tired of simple country joys, go to tow for historic baths and massage treatments, unique shops and galleries, fine dining and antiques. The Cottage is 15 minutes from two premier golf courses and 45 minutes from excellent downhill skiing."

The Gamekeeper's Cottage is stocked with breakfast makings, gourmet coffees and teas.

Peace
We're looking to go away for our 20th anniversary to a cabin somewhere. I've done a lot of looking but was wondering if anyone knew of cabins that are on a river or big lake. I've looked into Deep Creek. I seem to remember a thread somewhere here about cabins that were fairly close. My ideal place is secluded, where we can fish, cook what we catch, never leave, drink plenty of beer and not be bothered. Also, a hot tub is a MUST!!! So, any recommendations?

The train passes right behind the cabins.

Have a great time! It's a shame the restaurant/pub has closed. The food was amazing.

I'm really excited! Thanks for the tip. Honestly, I don't plan on leaving the cabin unless it's to pick up beer or food and I plan to get that on the way.

:thewave: I spent many a childhood summer in that area as my mom and step-dad are from there and my Grandma still lives there. Beautiful area. :yay: When you go up there, drive into Davis and eat at Sirianni's. You won't be disappointed. :yum:
