Cabling being buried down 235??

Talking directly with the contractor, the Fiber is going to Pax!!!

We're a LOT further South than PAX. and where the fiber ends there is no gov't tower or other gov't purpose that I can see.

The one road it ran down further North that was my thought, but on our road it ends just beyond our neighborhood, basically in the middle of nowhere until they build up the other new communities.

Sources say they are going to cut though Trapp road and head to NESEA but you will be able to get FIOS if you live near the drop in about a year or so.

We live in the vicinity of Trapp Rd, but in the opposite direction.

The Cable is being run about 3 miles down St Jerome's Neck Rd.

Webster Field is South of Pax!

Webster Field is South of Pax!

I kinda know where Webster Field is..

Kinda know where South of the Base is..

Also know which way I have to turn onto Trapp Rd from 235 (there's actually only ONE way you can turn onto Trapp Rd from 235) to get to Webster Field, and the cable is going in totally the opposite direction.

That is probably going down to the point no point theodolite.

Fibre seems like it would be WAAAY overkill.. but then have to ask.. How do they do their data dumps/ transfers now?

There is NO internet service past Bay Meadows, about 6 miles from the end of the Rd where I would assume the Theodilite would be.

Kool, just saying the contractor I spoke with yesterday stated the Fibre he was installing was to support PAX.

Take that with a grain of salt..... Webster is an annex of NAWC-AD, and the network geeks treat it all the same, so when they say Pax, it could be anywhere.

The current markings end at Camp Winslow Rd.. About 2 miles (maybe) short of Holly Point.

Though I did notice "PAX" spray painted on the road in several places on 235

(White Spray Paint means FUTURE utilities work)

You should just quit your job and go work for the Verizon fiber-install company so that you'll know what's going on in the County with first-hand knowledge. :yay:

I'm sure that won't be too much of a pay cut.

The Maryland Broadband Co-op is currently laying the fiber. That will have no impact on FTTH (fiber to the home) as I've heard them explain in political meetings. Their purpose is to build infrastructure which will allow private sector business to lease light or dark strands of fiber at different bandwidth levels so that ISP's and other private ventures can have large-scale Internet connections (read bandwidth) at lower prices.

For example, here on the Eastern Shore it is about $12k per month for a 45meg DS3 connection. I can lease a fiber line from one of their POP locations in say Baltimore where I can have that same DS3 for about $250 per month then hang fiber from my NOC (network operations center) to their POP say in Cambridge.

The theory behind this is by cutting costs to the private sector for bandwidth, small ISP's like us can afford to expand our coverage more and/or cut our prices and become more competitive.

Verizon will not be utilizing this fiber for FiOS and as a matter of fact, Verizon has stopped all plans for new FiOS build outs nationwide. There are even some regions that Verizon has offloaded FiOS to Frontier which as you can imagine, well I'll leave it at that.

Verizon shelves plans for future FiOS rollouts, relocations to Massachusetts set to boom -- Engadget

Delmarv, so basically the line is for government use and Verizon is dumping some of their service to Frontier? Damn I wish I would have said that with fewer words! But thanks for explaining it more. Bob is going to be so jealous that you're so smart.
