As in the difference between an English Lab and an American Lab.

... if so.. he is correct about the difference.

what Im still  about is... yes the kennel does sound like they are mixing a golden with poodles

Yes, I have seen Doodles from them but i have never seen them advertise Golden Labs (I guess that is what they would be other than cute).

I will oblige you with such when I get home, and am not in Verizon Hell in my current location. I have to email the pics to myself from the phone and I have no data connectivity with my phone currently.
Looking forward to them!!!

Yes, they are designer mutts, but it's not about "cute puppies". All puppies are cute, even chihuahuas. What you're paying for is the cross-breeding for certain traits.

Apollo is a designer mutt - Schnoodle: half poodle, half schnauzer. He is exactly what I wanted in a dog. The good news is that he fell into my lap, but I did check out the pups at Callaway Kennels when I was half-heartedly searching. Neither the pups nor the facility was dirty.

Of course I can't find it now, but I read a great article on designer mutts and how they're actually better dogs than pure breeds. Think about it: a pure breed is almost certainly inbred throughout the years, and they are more prone to defects and genetic problems. A mixed dog does not have those issues, and with a breeder you know exactly what the mix is instead of what the shelter is guessing at.

Not necessarily standing up for CK, but there are definite advantages of a mixed breed over a pure breed.

I agree with you Vrai. I think there's more to the original post. Our boy Gus is from Callaway. He's a great dog and they were great to work with. All the times we've been there to visit over the last 6 years it's always been clean. Also I believe their prices are the same as when we got Gus in 2006.

I did a Pop Inspection of the Interlude Kennels on St. Andrews Church Road, when I was looking in to Boarding our Dog. They had no clue that I was coming period. They did not hesitate bringing me on a tour of the whole place, including all the kennels the dogs stay in. I didn't see one poop, or one pee, or any dirty linen in the dog beds. Top notch in my book. All dogs had clean water, and food, along with their toys, and chewies. I know i went a little off the topic with this, but someone had asked what time of day the kennels are clean, and if they are sparkly clean 24/7.

I have used Interlude for 15 years and love that place.

Pictures of my boy. He is my little boy, he is just under 100 lbs and is 8 years old now.

I know that these are not the greatest pictures but getting an action picture of him or anything beyond being a loveable mush is a bit challenging. The one pic is of my g/f playing dress up with him as he just lays there and deals with it in his own way by making himself into a dead weight. She thought it would be cute to find a fleece sweater for him, she does not listen when I tell her that he really does not need help staying warm.

my response

I'm suspicious of the motive behind OP's post. "My friend said..." yet no explanation as to why we might care what their "friend" said. Or why they care, for that matter. If it was in a thread by someone looking for a breeder, that would be one thing; but as it stands it's just random and makes me think rival breeder trying to start stuff.

i am not a rival breeder. i'm just relaying a concern from a friend who happened to be looking for a puppy, went to the kennel to look at it, and was concerned that the puppy was filthy and the facility didn't look too clean either.
if you don't care, thats fine. i really didn't think anyone associated with SOMD.COM would say anything negative about one of their big advertisers.

I am in no way associated with somd.com, and have nothing to do with their advertising, and receive no compensation from the advertisers or somd.com.

Same here. Not associated with somd online. I got a puppy from them 6 years ago and have been back to visit several times and it's never been bad.
