Just read the article in the Recorder, so it seems to me that he should have listened to whomever was in charge, i know for a fact that if it was me, in his position I would have stayed on the beach, but what happened was his fault, and the article did say that this was not the first time he was told not to go in the water. So I'm sorry if I caused any trouble for this kid, but I would have rather the department know about it, than him getting away with it. He might be a hero to some people but he could have also became a fatality if something seriously went wrong.... My opinion

That's just it, this forum is for people to come to chat, give their opinions, learn, listen and many form friendships, BUT you crossed the line, you sent a letter telling on him and that's just wrong. I think he would have learned more from you had you just chatted with him since your such the good firefighter. And trust me, the papers can and will write anything. Were you listening to the scanner that nite? NOPE. I was, I heard the confusion, not having a full crew and so on and so on. So I have my own opinion. Shawn took the heat. And that's my opinion. I don't even know this kid, but if it were me in that water that day, I sure would have been glad that he jumped in after me.

thanks to all of you that agree with me and also feel my pain. wasn't trying to break any rules at the department i just saw four teenagers in the water screaming for help. and i am one of those people that would help anyone. i would risk my life tosave somebody elses. I would have jumped in the water either way probably. i can not just sit back and watch. Now that ithink back and everybody that was there, we could have changed a few things. i could of gotten a life ring from the pool or got a rope or something but i was not think about safety at the time. i ws think about getting the teens out of the cold water.

Good for you. I hope you are happy with your new "team." And remember that word, "team". Ok?? You're going to make a great firefighter!!!!

i understand but what ever the fire department said was not the truth but not everything is a lie some of it is true.but it is just the fact that they cant admit they were wrong and that i was the one that saved a life. they told me that i made them look bad. They made themselves look bad...my opion...I think if they would have praised me or gave me credit then they would have looked great and the community wouldn't be mad at them and wondering who they are going to call when something happens. I will eventually let it go but right now i am still going off because i still am not getting any credit from the department or even a sorry from any of them.They said what they said in the paper so that they could cover there butts and im sure u know that being with the fire department
