Can-Am Spyder

Any comments? I love my Barka-lounger, but this has really caught my eye. Reviews are all pretty decent and I was thinking of heading up to the dealer for a close up look-see.

I've seen a silver one floating around here with a base sticker, saw it parked one day and took a look, but didn't touch.

Just looking for pros/cons if anyone has any.

Con: Expensive! $$$$$$

...I take that back. I could have sworn that when I looked them up a few years ago, they cost ~$75k! Looks like you can get them a lot cheaper now.

$19 to $24K, not much different than a new GoldWing. Still expensive relatively, but not unreasonable.

Mortons had a used one (last time I was there), and they have a liberal test drive policy.

I thought they used to come with the horizontal twin from a BMW, but now they have the Rotax in them.

Looking at the one in Mortons, they must not lean. They have car tires on them just like the sidecar rigs..

Looks like it would be hard to do the cone weave and figure 8 in the MSF course

at least one riding with the pax river SCRC right now. jump overthere and ask.

That's Don. He was at our breakfast last Saturday. Show up at one of our feeds/rides and I'm sure he'd let you take it for a spin. We were at Fredericksburg motorsports last summer and somebody pulled in on the touring model. It looks a LOT more complete the the standard version. They also sell a trailer that hooks into the ABS system

Also seems, from what I'm reading, that it could differ state to state how it's registered. Not all states call it a motorcycle, which means the MSP is moot.

Right, no lean. Takes away the fun in a corner.... :ohwell:

The tourer is the one I'd be interested in. I may run into Fredricksburg or Mortons to look at it if he has one. Not sure if I'd like the semi-auto tranny... I used an electronic shifter on a quad once, had trouble getting used to it.

Looks like all the tourers get a a manual. Its the sport models that are locked in to the auto.
