Can Am Trikes

a co-worker of mine is looking at these Can- Am trikes, and i figured i'd see if anyone on this forum has one, or knows someone that has one, and if they like it. pros and cons.

I test rode one from the BRP dealer in Mechanicsville not too long ago. Lots of nice creature comfort options, peppy.

I didn't like riding it. I've been a two-wheeler for almost 50 years and expect a vehicle to react a certain way, like cornering. The CanAm corners flat, and since you're sitting up higher and not leaning with the bike, you get the feeling like you're going to fall off in the opposite direction of the turn. The steering is also VERY sensitive, so just looking over your shoulder is enough to point the bike in another direction.

I get the impression that the CanAm was intended for people who wouldn't or couldn't ride a two-wheeler in an effort to fill that void. Now anyone can ride without the fear of falling off. A new rider would do much better acclimating to the CanAm than a seasoned two-wheeler.

Your friend should go for a test drive and see for himself.

One of the guys in the Southern Cruisers Riding Club has a Spyder. He likes it and rode it all last winter, even with snow on the ground. I tried it around a parking lot and like GW said, it feels weird not to lean in a corner

It would probably be like when we switched from my one dirt bike to a couple of three wheel ATVs, pretty different. For one thing you actually turn the bars in the direction you want to go.
