Can NASCAR Be Saved From Itself?

Fake little No2 bottle?
Another ignorant person. I would be glad to school you in my little ole Subaru. Meet me at Summit Point or any road course of your choosing. I am certain that I would crush you in whatever it is that you drive. Or maybe you would like to race in the snow, or dirt or gravel too. Either way, you would loose.

F1 cars were pushing 750-1000 hp back in the eighties, with just 1.5 ltr engines. Currently push 780 with 2.4ltr engines with no forced induction on 93 octane.

Oh and that 70mph, is the average over a few miles on a twisty, varying course/road.

Without using that fake horsepower NO2 in your little Suburu, I'm gonna go ahead and bet that you couldn't.

Mitsubishi's rally car, the Lancer, only has 291 hp in the showroom this year.

Having to race PRODUCTION cars seems to improve the cars in the show room.

It's sad that NASCAR sold their heritage for a couple of bucks. I can only assume the they think their fans are just dumb rednecks who think it's still stock car racing

I like NASCAR because it's good racing. Side by side, beating and banging at 180 mph.

Go ahead and do that in your Subaru. :yay:

Oh excuse, I forgot to mention the other fake horsepower Turbo Chargers...my bad

Sorry, I just really can't get excited about a "race car" that sounds about as impressive as a chain saw.

Actually Subaru does do that too. Subaru's are used in road course racing, such as the 24 Hour Nurburgring race, and those cars are capable of 180mph, out of a 2.0 or 2.5 ltr turbo charged engine.
My Subaru in stock form, is capable of a rev limited 155mph.

Modern F1 engines do not use turbo chargers.

Turbo chargers = fake horsepower ?
1000hp is 1000hp, whether a turbo is helping make it or not.

Have you ever even heard a F1 engine? They sound much different when you are there watching them live.

Dude, you're fighting a losing battle. Have you ever heard a top fuel dragster come past you at 330 mph? I guarantee that it sounds much more impressive than that F-1.

But it doesn't really matter, some of us like american racing, you obviously like foreign racing, who cares?

Fighting a losing battle huh?
Yes, I have heard a Top Fuel dragsters, and they are very impressive. I have also heard many other race cars that sound just as impressive. Not as loud, but very impressive.
Have you ever heard of the ALMS? American Lemans Motorsports Series. Sounds American to me. Corvettes, Vipers, Panoz, Mustangs race in this series This is my favorite racing series, which actually pit Americas best against Porsche's, Ferrari's, Aston Martin, Audi, etc.
I appreciate all race cars, however some race cars impress me more than others.

I will also add other American Racing Series which use race cars based on "stock" cars, such as the Pontiac G8's & GTO's, Corvettes, Cadillacs CTSV, Mustangs, Vipers, etc:
Rolex Series Grand American
The Koni Racing Series
Speed GT Series
Speed Touring Series
US Touring Car

Well, they won't be doing 330mph anymore thanks to the NHRA's 1,000 foot rule.

Is there a venue for American manufactured stock cars to race aginst each other besides the ALMS?

See this:

Also, add SCCA to that. They used to race up at Marlboro before Summit Point took that over. ALMS used to race in DC until the libtard :dork:s started complaining about noise (You live in DC, what do ya expect:smack:- Andy) and the temporary road course was shut down after the 1st year on it's 10 year contract.

The SPEED GT and Touring Series fall under SCCA Racing.

I actually like some GT racing. Though I'd rather see vintage GT races (they're supposed to have a few at Jersey).

I love me some GT Legends.

I also happen to think the road courses in NASCAR are some of the best races. Put Wildthing, Smoke, Robby Gordon, Happy Harvick, Juan Pablo, Marcus Ambrose and Boris Said in a GT race and you'd have a hell of a shoe. :yahoo:

I caught part of one of those the other day :yay:
Was a lot more interesting than turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left.

Boris Said is a GT Racer at heart. His fame started in and continues to be as GT Racer. He used to race with PTG Racing driving the mighty M3 GTR's. I met him this spring at the Nurburgring, where he was driving a Porsche 997 RSR. He is one heck of an endurance sports car racer, and a nice guy too.

The track is still there. Use mapquest aerial view. Look just north of RFK stadium. You can see the racing surface. It was made with a special type of asphalt which incorporated rubber to make better traction. It is a slightly different color than the other pavement. I passed it every day while they were paving it. I used to work in DC. It's still raceable (sp?) but don't hold your breath for the next event.
