canine dental expense

The vet at White Plains Animal Hospital did that senior rescue kitty we had for under $400 and the kitty had never had any dental work, and had lots of decay and needed several teeth extracted.
Sounds like you had been given the "rescue" price which isn't what the average consumer would be charged.

No he charged me the regular price as he does for all the critters I take there. He has reasonable fees. If I bring a critter back for a follow-up appt. he charges me a lower "follow-up" office visit fee. If I bring more than 1 critter to a visit, I get a lower office visit fee for the additional critter.

Vet prices are high all over the place. They wanted $800.00 for my 20 year-old cats teeth to be treated. It was a while back too. They charge you more if the animal is a Senior too. That's why I no longer go to the regular Vet here in Calvert. I go to the Well Pet Clinic in Huntingtown. They are very reasonable. A Vet Visit costs only $10.00, whereas it's something like $50 for the regular Vet. I had the yearly blood work done to my Bostons to check for Heartworm. Altogether, it was $60. I'll bet if I had taken them to the regular Vet, it would have been close to $150, if not more. Over a year ago, my girls came down with Leptospirosis, and after havening spent almost $1,000.00 at the regular Vet, they still had no answer. I had to ask for specific meds, or tests. I got frustrated, and went to the Well Pet Clinic, and Dr. Quigly got to the root of the problem, and even came up with the diagnosis. For under $100.00. The only down fall, is that Well Pet Clinics are limited where diagnostic X-Rays are concerned. They have no machine.
