The prices I'm seeing don't mention items included, like a memory card, battery pack or charger.

There is an "info page" on there somewhere, as to you're getting the factory package. ie you buy the camera body only, you get the factory package that everyone else is selling.. The Nikon came with a 1 GB Card, Battery Charger, Camera Case.. and a few other niceties.. full warranty, and they certify these are NEW items, not refurbished or factory seconds.

The Camera 'Kit' I want comes with 2 lenses, tripod, hard case. 2 GB card, charger. etc. etc..

There is an 800 number to call, think I'll call them before I order anything.

You guys (and gals) may want to hold off on your orders from that site (bestpricecameras.com) and read this Best Price Cameras (enterprisephoto.com, infinitiphoto.com, jandkcameras.com) Customer Ratings, Reviews and Prices at ResellerRatings

Seems as these cameras DO NOT come with a FACTORY warranty nor do they come with anything that you would typically get when purchasing one elsewhere. It also seems that these are not camera originally made for the US market. I would not buy IMO.

Did sound too good to be true.

Im not sure what they would try to sell you for a lens...

but for the camera it seems they sell you accessories that typically come with the camera for exuberant prices and if you do not go for it they wont ship your products. Even if there were nothing to upsell, I really wouldnt trust them with my billing info. From everything Ive read they seem pretty shady. Id much rather deal with the likes of B&H and Adorama and at least know you are dealing with an honest reputable company.

I've used B&H and they seem to have some of the best prices. They have some weird holidays and they were a little slow one time, but overall I like them.

B&H is very good to deal with....I usually purchase from Adorama as they too have good prices and they have always been prompt with processing and shipping. I recently bought my tripod and head from them, ordered on a saturday and rec'd on tuesday. I only paid for three day shipping so i was happy. Even regular ground doesnt take long, since they are in NY as well.

In shopping around for a camera, I've noticed there are a lot of companies with similar deals and BBB reports.

We priced our camera on the circuit city site. When we went to the Waldorf store, they wanted a lot more for it. I told the sales girl that the price was cheaper on their site. She double-checked it and gave it to us for the internet price.

I wonder how many people end up paying the 'in store price'.

Well, now that I've seen the scoop, it looks like they do business under about 10 online names.. Sounds like DigiCombos is theirs too.. thecameraprofessionals.. fotoexpress..

Now that I;m looking I see USA Warrantly a LOT.

Yeah, I didn't pay much attention, but that is a bit different than manufactors warranty isn't it? What doesn't sound right in those reviews though is the viewfinder package. You can't even set up your camera with out the LCD so why would they be made that way?

Depending on which exact model you look at, most will work to a point. The biggest difference is your lens might fit and work, but not the auto focus.

Question I have is how do the Nikon Digital SLR's stack up to the Canon's??

I have about $2000 worth of Nikon equipment in my camera bag that hasn't been used in a LONG time.. but I also understand that all of my Nikon gear, lenses, Cokin Filters. teleconverter. flash, are compatible with tne new digitals.. True or False? Pros cons??

Granted this equipment is almost 30 years old, but it all is in VERY good shape..

A-ha! Search IS my friend. I had a crazy idea this morning to go look for my old camera and lenses. While the camera is no good, I'm also wondering if my lenses would fit a new one. I have a 75-300 macro zoom and an ultra wide macro lens (both appear to be made by Sakar). Yes, they are VERY old.

Are lenses made back then universally compatible with today's cameras, anyone? TIA.

I am looking for a few Nikon sb28 Speedlights. If you got one you dont use I need it ,will buy or trade for Canon Equipment.

Wow, this thread went further than I thought it would.

Anyway, we got the camera kit, a memory card, the XTi bag that comes with an extra battery and the UV filter lense. Hubby already has a tripod, so I didn't get one of those. I've taken so many pictures tonight it's crazy.

I haven't had time to figure out all the buttons and features, but I know that I LOVE LOVE LOVE the close-up feature. It rocks!!!

I can't wait to get a zoom lense for it too.

If you want a 70-300 Ill give you one CHEEP. I have Two and never use either anymore.
