I just bought a new Ram 1500 mega crew cab and I want to get an overhead flip down monitor with built in dvd player installed. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place where I could buy this and have it installed? I am looking for a screen that is 17" or bigger, thanks.

Take it to the dealer, if anyone should know how to do it would be them. I'm sure if they don't do it they will send you in the right direction. Good Luck! :howdy:

No, I don't plan on living in my truck. I am in the military and our family lives 18 hours away and we have young children and the dvd player makes the trip alot more enjoyable for them, not that its any of your business. Why buy some little 7 inch screen they can't even see when I can afford the 17 inch. I just want to know if any one knows of a local place that can install them.

Would THIS face lie?
Best Buy or Circuit City sells and installs...Some times they have specials that when you buy a certain product they'll install free....Shop around....I'm putting in a system this morning we got from Crutchfield...They're really good too but you have to install...They'll walk you right through it..

You made it our business when you posted on a public access internet forum. See how that works?

Actually my life and what I do is none of your buisiness, the question was where can I get a dvd player for my truck installed, not who wants to know about my life. I know how the forum works. Thank you to those who did reply with an ANSWER to my QUESTION. Do you see how that works, a question is asked and an answer is given, not comments or questions about your life in return.

DO NOT go to Best Buy. They did a real hack job on my grandsons stereo install. Their excuse was it was an older car??? From what you're asking it sounds like a very custom type of install. Check out other recomendations very carefully. I also have a Ram 1500 Crew cab, how about on the back of the center console instead of a flip down? Actually a laptop computer with a DVD player and DC/AC adapter. Just a few thoughts:buddies:

Tomcat, thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I had not thought about that option, but that is something to think about. I am trying to figure out what the best option for my two young children would be. We have the DVD players that wrap around the headrest and they have saved our life with all the traveling, but we are talking about a 3rd child and if the screens are on the headrest, that child will be left out. So either on the ceiling or the middle console is going to be the best bet I believe. Thanks again.

Justin, Justin, Justin...you've got a lot to learn about SOMD. Unclench your buttcheeks.

You have to admit (or maybe you have absolutely no curiousity about anything whatsoever) that somebody putting a 17 inch monitor in a car or truck is a tad out of the ordinary, even in this day and age. It just invites questions whether you like it or not. I have to believe that you wanted people to comment (that, and you were bragging), or you wouldn't have given out so much information.

If you didn't want questions (and/or didn't want to brag), the way to phrase it would have been: does anyone know where I can get a dvd player installed in my truck. Period.

See how that works?

There is a company called Responsive Creations in Fredericksburg, Va. I know its a long way away, however they do top notch work and it is well worth the 90 minute drive. If you want it done right, have them do it. you can PM me for their number if you want, I dont want to turn this into an ad for them.

Ive been installing stuff myself for a while now, i did my vehicle back in may.

It took about 8 hours over the course of 3 days to do everything, i used sheet metal to make a brace so the headliner didnt have to handle all the wieght of the flip downs. Very easy to do if you take your time. PM me if you want bigger pictures.

Before comments roll in no i dont watch tv while i drive, i dont have kids i did this for car shows etc. I take alot of road trips with friends and these where the best money i have spent on my 13 hour drive to disney. Was about a grand for all the monitors, the DDIN dvd player, the video source amp, and all the hardware. Got quotes ranging from 800-1200 just for install and 2000-3000 for install with parts.
