There is a reason racing cars have 5 point harnesses.

For this same reason we intend to keep the boy in a 5 point harness setup as long as possible.

How old is he? My son will not fit into the 5 point harness seats that they sell in the stores. His torso is too long.

You can quote facts and expert advice all you want. But not every parent no matter how loving they are to thier children can afford a $250 car seat.

This will probably be Shrillary's next campaign promise - government funded car seats.

It's for the children, you know.

We got all 3 of our kids the Safeguard child seat....They are $400 a piece but we got 15% off for buying 3.

I KNOW that is a TON of money for a carseat but hopefully we will never have to buy another. And I know we have sent atleast that much in carseats for the kids in almost 3 years, so we should have got these from the get go.

These will last them (in the 5 pt harness) until 65 pounds. Our 2 year old twins weigh about 30-32 pounds each and our 4 year old is at about 40-41.

The Regent was on backorder for like 3 months so we went with these.

I did watch the video and it is heartwrenching.....

My next door neighbor's little girl was ran over by a truck on Friday -- It's just one of those things, you do what you can to protect them, but in the end, we don't have a say in the big scheme of things.

Okay.... who's 80 pounder's butt is stuck in his 5-point carseat in Huntington...:tap:

Perfect timing, wasn't it? :killingme

Back on topic, both of mine stayed in their 5-point until they were 8 years old. My 11 year old still weighs under 65 pounds. He has yet to experience riding in the front passenger seat.

My son is 10 and not yet 80lb. He would have a heart attack if I drove him 2 blocks to school in a 5 point harness car seat. Not gonna happen.

Please tell me there's a major road to cross and that's why you drive him two blocks to school.

You're a LOON :)
My son is 7 and weighs 101 punds. He can't even fit in a car seat. In some of our vehicles the seatbelts fit the kids just right and some of our vehicles they use a booster.

 I do before care (one kid) and drive a neighbors kid too. Plus I have to drive my oldest, and three other kids to middle school that is a mile and a half away. We all leave at the same time. I drop the younger kids first and pull back around to get the older ones. Just makes it easier.
Plus, I live in Bannister. Enough said, huh.
