So after many debates with the kids, I would like to know: they all pronounce Caramel as Car-a-mel, us older folks pronounce it carmel (as in carmel apple) with out emphasis on the a, how do you all pronounce it?
Caramel (PRON: CARE-A-MELL) is the confection in candy.
Carmel (PRON: KAR-mell) is a shortened pronunciation of Carmelita.
I eat caramel and live in Carmel.
I must be weird...
just like how do pronounce crayons?
Is it crowns?
or
Is it crayyyooons?
of course the answer to both is carmel & crowns

I must be weird...I pronounce it care-mul. I suppose there's a bit of an "a" sound after the "care" but I don't linger on it so it just comes out as care-mul.
Can I dip y'all in caramel?I just be too. I usually say care-a-mell if I'm just talking about just caramel. If I'm talking about caramel ______ (apples, corn, etc) then I say caremul/caremel as well.
Is there really such a thing as caramel corn? I've never heard of it. Maybe you were thinking of candy corn perhaps?
