I feel so bad for you. I know you must be so upset. It is not your fault, nor your husband's. Things just happen. And, I do think that things happen for a reason, even though, we may not understand, at the time.
Say what???
Not the husbands fault???
He put the cat out !!!!!
Things dont just happen, ( well, maybe in your hippie flower covered world), the cat did not open the door and let it self it, her husband did!
Like others said, should have put the cat down at the Vet to save it from additional suffering. Poor cat.
I always have loved your lacking bed side manner. Let me be sure to call you when I have a sick pet, or worried about someone that wants to jump of a bridge. Oh, wait, I could be like you, and make up a fake vehicle accident, and give forum members a heart attack! And, don't think it was lost on me that there are many posts on this thread, but that you picked me to respond to. I gotcha, and I feel sorry for you.
You should be comforting muddlepuddle instead of bashing another poster on this thread. You are heartless, and I have known that from my first experience with you here.
I am sorry muddle, hang in there, I know this is really hard for you. I know your pain, but you will heal. You have the right to your own life, and the choices you make. You thought you were doing the right thing. Don't be sad, but rejoice in the great life your kitty had. Ignore any negative comments on this thread, for they truly don't understand, or would not say such things. And, I didn't want to say it, but many are right here that your kitty probably wanted to go to the bridge on his own. Cats are smart, and even if they act like they don't care, they are full of love. Your kitty loved you.
May I ask why? Just curious thats all. I had the vet come to the house for the last pet we had PTS. Much better than taking him to the office IMO.
Nope what?
It was one of the saddest things I have had to experience with a pet. She was already hurting, would loved to have not had to go to the vet and didn't like it! She would have liked her last hour on Earth at home with her family. If I had one come over it may have been different. I put two down myself. Way less bad feelings about that. They died relatively happy and in way less stressed out circumstances.
Because punching someone out doesn't help things? The cat is out. Sorry if she wanted to take it to the vet to put it down.
Hope she finds it and get her wishes.
I have a vet who comes to the house. You know when they are ready to go and so do they. I want my babies put to sleep in my arms.
This thread has me bawling.
I'm sorry to hear about your pet. We too have a loving pet of 13-1/2 years that will be put to rest on Wednesday morning. It's very sad when our pets become ill. Please do not beat yourself up about what happened. As others have said.......most animals do crawl off somewhere to die. It's their instinct. Maybe it's best that you don't watch the pet suffer. Know in your heart that your cat did what most other indoor/outdoor cats would do. Take care. Hugs!!!!

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and sympathy...
So sorry to hear about your pet. I don't know which is worse...taking your pet to be put down, and know the exact time it will happen, or to have your pet wander off and not know the time he died...
Just a suggestion, cats tend to have a secret place where they feel secure outdoors. I know my 1 goes under the deck and the other by the shed (sometimes under it). Have you checked around your house and under things?

We put our dog to sleep about a month ago and this was the first pet my kids were old enough to realize what was happening. Our vet did it after hours so we'd have some privacy but my youngest kept doing a count-down as to how much longer before it happened.
Ex... 5 hours until our dog is put to sleep... 4 hours until our dog is put to sleep.
Then after it was over, he would count how many hours she had been gone.
Ex... Our dog has been dead 2 hours... Our dog has been dead 3 hours.
Drove me nuts and I told him to stop it immediately. I'm sure it was his way of dealing with it and I understand that but it made the whole situation worse.
I know this would be making you go crazy...but I have to tell you, I'm in my 50's and I count like this in my head for all of my pets. Can't help it...just one of my ways of coping.
So sorry for your loss. We had to put our dog down a month ago...so we have had two losses within 6 weeks...
