Catalytic Converter

I had my exhaust redone from the CAT back to the tail pipes. Now the baffle in the catalytic converter broke free and is rattling quite a bit. Seems like the previous owner replaced it once by cutting it out and welding in a new one. I am going to replace it as a whole and not do a patch job. My suburban has the DUAL CONVERTERS IN Y-PIPE ASSY and the dual rear connector mounts to the mufflers dual inlet.

I can order an EASTERNS for $283
SL for $336
Bosal for $265
EVANFISCHER $251.

They are all direct fit items manufactured from high quality and durable stainless steel catalytic case, 16-gauge aluminized steel tubes, and heat shield.

I was thinking of going with the cheapest but wanted to see if anyone knew if one brand is best keeping away from or if one is outstanding quality.

I had looked into a similar issue in the past regarding my Burb, all of the reviews that I came across pointed that the cheap one was as good as the expensive one. I had a different issue but during troubleshooting things were pointing to a clogged Cat.

My problem is just a noise problem. The rattling sound makes me feel like I am driving a Hoopty.

Well they are tanks, but I know exactly where you are coming from. Its a form of paranoia when you know that your car is making some noise and it seems like everyone else in the world is looking at your ride and passing poor judgement on you as an owner or in my case mechanic as well.

Sometimes when they rattle, it means they are broken up inside. The broken material can possibly clog up your exhaust and hurt the performance....I just changed one that was rattling...
