yeap! she is every 2 hrs on the dot! No fooling this child! And yes- there are ALOT of things I was told while pregnant- ask jwwb.. I was hittin her up with questions all the time. Some of the things I was told, I see, are so ridiculous now- such as that thing for the crib so they dont roll.. yeah- towels work just fine :yay:
:lmao: :lmao: Just wait until the next one! Everything you thought you had learned is useless. My kids are so opposite that we had to relearn just about everything. The gimmicks that worked with the first were useles for the second, and the ideas we threw out for the first ended up being great for the second.

The good part: It gets really great once they are out of diapers, can feed themselves, and amaze you with how quickly they learn.

The bad part: They will be teens before you know it.

Sounds like you got the good version of Mom's help. My mom tells me that when I was six months, her mom decided I was allergic to milk. She switched me to goat's milk. It wasn't until 5 years later that a chest x-ray proved I had actually been sick. Fortunately, no real harm done, other than the thought of drinking goats milk.

I guess I was lucky with our kids. My wife was able to breast feed until they were two, so we didn't need to mess with the whole formula thing. Also, part of the deal was if she was a stay at home, she got to get up so I could work. Don't take that wrong - If she had continued working, the nightime duty would be shared. We agreed on the arangement, and we don't regret it one bit.

GAG! Goats milk? Lovely!

And I wish I could bf like your wife. What a champ! That is awesome.

On another note:
I really appreciate you guys talking about other things too- its nice to know that even though in reality I know I am not the only one- but when I have been tearing my hair out for the last 3 days- is nice to know I am not alone with all of these "things."

The second one is always easier. You know what you're doing and you aren't as freaked out by everything. In fact, we should be able to give away the first one and just go straight to #2.

Well I would have thought she would have had colic from the beginning, no?

My 2nd babe had colic and it didn't really kick in until she was about a month. Every evening was horrid...we really dreaded it. It took her about 2-3 mos. to finally get over it.

She also barfed her head off until she was about 11 mos. old, no matter what formula we tried. I tried switching to all the different ones, and tried every bottle on the market - nothing made a difference so I went right back to my plain 'ol bottles and regular formula. The cereal never helped her, either.

At any rate, I have heard from a lot of people that Carnation Good Start really helped their babies with the colic, barfing, and stomach issues. I'm hoping my new babe won't be a barfer, but if she is, I'm going to try the Good Start.

Oh and if she does have colic...you may have to use Nutramigan formula (enfamil brand) or Alimentum® Advance (similac brand). Both are used for colic.

We tried both with baby-K, and neither did a dang thing for her colic. :ohwell:

That's what everyone told us, but our first is the bestest girl ever, and our second (a boy) is satan spawn. I swore I'd never get a vasectomy, then little Mikey arrived.

The bad part: They go to MIT and you get to pay for it :lmao:

At least it's natural, they don't call it "formula" for nothing, read the label. :barf:

It was my preference on the taste- I wasnt knocking giving it to her if need be. But in the preference on my taste, but to each their own.

I have experienced an epiphany tonight!

As a single man, with no children and no pets, I should stop clicking on the 'New Posts" icon.

I have learned more about babies and horses than I ever needed to know.

If she is fed and dry, let her cry a bit. My feeling is that sometimes you can over stimulate them.

Welcome to parenthood.

Truer words were never spoken.

Girl did the scream gig to me. I discovered I wasn't burping her well. I'd feed her, pat her back and get a big ol' belch or two and I thought I was done. Then she'd start screaming. Even though I thought I'd burped her, it wasn't enough. I had to put sit her on my knee, facing her forward with my hand under her tummy and pat her back pretty hard, or lay her over my lap and pat her back to get all the air out of her tummy.

Hell-screaming babies.

It may be a sort of acid reflux called GERD. You are to keep the baby in a sitting position for approx. 20 minutes after they eat. If they go into the laying position, the acid starts to go up their throat and burn. That is why they will turn so red and start to arch their back. I had to put my son on medication for this. The medicine helped with the crying and arching back but he still spit up like crazy. The holding in a sitting position did help with the spitting up, but didn't stop it completely.

They told me all that, too - then my mother came to visit, threw away all my baby books, put a few spoons of cereal in a bottle of formula, widened the nipple hole and fed it to my 3 week old son.

I got 4 luxurious hours of sleepy sleepy.

That's another thing, Sum - they say babies eat every 4 hours and sleep the rest of the time? That's a lie, as I'm sure you already realize. People who tell pregnant women that should get the chair.
Yep-my mom did the same thing with mine. Chris had an absolute fit about it but it helped me get some rest. (I bf both of them (twins) and supplemented each feeding with a bottle or I'd have been elsie the cow size!) the oldest had a immature reflux and would barf (projectle) after every feeding and then get a 2nd bottle...... I say give it a try and if you don't see a difference then back off of it. and what tastycakes said is good too! and she should know.... she has quite a few (6 I think??) children...... and is a awesome mom!

Teething can be very painful, and cause slight fever, and other discomforts (ie, diarrhea), for some. Teething rings, etc. don't work. Dampen a regular wash cloth, put an ice cube in the middle and wrap a strong rubber band around it and let her suck on it like a popscicle.

SIDS occurred mostly with babies who slept on their bellies...hmmm, when that bit of research came out, weren' t all babies sleeping on their bellies? JMO, but I never bought it, my son slept on his belly, when he was cranky, holding him around his belly helped the most, so it just seemed to fit that he was most comfortable on his belly...

Infamil was our formula after bf. It is soy based and not as sweet as others. Cereal was started at 6 weeks in the bottle with a wider nipple.

Good luck!

Baby Bliss Gripe Water saved my sanity. My youngest had colic and it was awful! My sister ended up loving it for her baby too, I think Jabba used it too but didn't get the same results we did.

I used to order it online and would get nervous if a shipment was late:lol:

Yeah, the books have some great ideas, and in a perfect wold would be great, unfortunately, most of the babies didn't get a copy in the womb so they aren't privy to their info. :lmao: I stopped reading too and just went on my gut feeling, which was usually what worked.
