Chancellor's Run Road

Ever since the concrete barrier went up between Sheetz and Hickory Hills, I've noticed drivers on northbound Chancellor's Run Road making U-turns to head south. Every day I make a right turn from southbound Route 235 onto southbound Chancellor's, and I've almost had my car's front end clipped twice.

I've never seen a No U Turn sign so I guess it's legal:shrug:

My beef is with the cars that pass on the shoulders at Hickory Hills and Fire Dept. Lane, at least 5 accidents a week there b/c of that.

traffic marking (e.g. solid line and cross hatches) makes the turn illegal.. maybe some officer who has not met their quota should hang out there :)

oops, i think i'm talking about heading northbound... if you are talking about the light at chancellor's run, and people making u-turns, it's legal.

Sorry about that chief.
I don't understand the logic of pulling a U-turn there but I see it daily too, I guess they're heading to ABC or Nicholetti's.

The one I really don't understand is why they pull one heading southbound on chancellor's run to go back up to Sheetz. Idjits, why don't they just turn in from 235?!?

That solid white line between the right hand lane and the merge lane coming out of chancelors run rd make turning into sheetz from the highway technically illegal. Not that i don't do it anyway, but thats the explanation, i think.

BTW, i'm new here, somebody going to buy me a beer  in honor of my first post?

Is it true that they are going to widen Chancellor's Run road from 235 to Great Mills?

That's all part of the master plan, as well as extending Pegg Rd to route 5.

It is a legal U turn, all law enforcement agencies cave been contacted by the state highway administration and told NOT to ticket cars. The cars coming from 235-S turning onto Chancellors have a red light and a yield sign and that includes yielding to cars making a U turn on green. One reason it is legal is that the State signed papers years ago that guaranteed the owner of Hickory Hills shopping center access from both lanes of Chancellors. If a U turn was NOT permitted he could sue the state.

Well, they should make a U-turn into the left lane then, not the right one.

I agree. The problem is that the turn is too narrow for most cars, so the U-turners go right into the right lane (the merge lane). When it happened yesterday, the U-turner was headed into Hickory Hills.
