Cheeseburger in Paradise

We were there at about 1:00 today. Wife and I had burgers, and they were awesome. The kids loved their meals. Wife had a frozen drink, with the added bonus of a piece of glass in the drink. She loved the drink until she got to the chunk of glass.

The waitress was pretty clueless. After our food arrived, we had to ask for napkins. She said "Oh crap." She made a $3 error on the tab, as well as not removing the price of the glassy drink, for a total of more than $8. Of course we made her fix her errors. I tipped her too much (20%), but she was obviously working at the limit of her blonde ability.

We'll be back. A very satisfying lunch for four, including some beers, for less than $40 is acceptable. The service has to get better as they learn the job.

I don't think it is on the Weight Watchers list of places to eat so I'll wait until I drop the last 15 pounds.

BG, Nicholas and I went for lunch on Friday.. GOOD food, good atmosphere, and great prices. I had the Bacon C-Burger, BG had the Scrimps.. and for dessert we had the Chocolate Nachos (YUM).. Nicholas helped with the icecream and Chocolate Nachos.. If NoMo and Prep had hung around they could have helped too.. LOT of food. and all that for a little over 30 dollars.. Yeah, we'll be back..

Cheeseburger was messy, but real good, I gave up trying to eat it with my hands about 1/2 way through and resorted to using fork and knife..

Sorry to hear that. Have you tried Linda's on the Square in Leonardtown and, if so, what is your opinon on that? I'm just wondering because I haven't been to either. I heard that sucked, also.

No I haven't been to Linda's. I may check that out next weekend. Then again if you heard it sucked I may not! LOL I did forget to mention that the wait staff at Paradise were very nice and very efficient. I just did not enjoy the food. After waiting an hour to get in there and then waiting an additional 20 minutes for the food to come we just said forget it! We won't be back.

Having glass in your drink can get dangerous, especially if you don't catch it and swallow it. It sounds as though the waitress was either a little nervous or it's her first job in a very busy environment.

My wife and I went to Linda's in Leonardtown a few weeks ago and thought it was a pleasent change from her place in LP. The food is good in both places, but the one in Leonardtown is bigger, brighter and we received quicker service.

Have not been to the Paradise yet. I work nights and our group tried to order takeout but I was told they're not doing takeout yet. What's up with that??

Definitely. If she doesn't get her shiat together soon, she's history.

Sounds like you had the waitress WE had. We had to wait almost 45 minutes to get in - which we were expecting. What I realize now, is *why*.

Service so far, was positively awful, at least for us and those around us. We did see a few tables where the "islander" (as they call the wait staff) was on the ball and took care of their patrons meticulously. But we weren't so lucky. She was prompt to get to our tables, and knew the menu at least. But that's where it ended. It was forever just to get *WATER*. She got our drinks wrong - and we waited. Refills almost never came, and usually, if she TOOK your glass, she didn't return with one. No napkins. No utensils, something I kind of expect to be there when I get the table. She charged for the two free appetizers we had coupons for. The "correction" took at least ten minutes. The free appetizer took over a half hour to arrive, and we pretty much had to complain to get it - and we got one of them. We had to wait again, for the second.

The customers on either side were similarly peeved - we watched as she dropped sauce on the floor and was oblivious to the mess she'd left as she went to the kitchen. All in all our lunch from arrival to departure was close to two hours.

We left her a dollar. We should have left nothing, but we wanted her to know we did it on purpose. Worst service I've received in years.

On the other hand ----

The *food* is great. Hands down. But if I get another waitress like that, I'm not going back, period. It's not as though I can't get mediocre food with GREAT service, like a Bob Evan's - which we went to the next day, with astonishingly great service.

ate lunch there today

I thought the shrimp ap was great. Interesting how the drink menu is a small novel and the food menu is a brochure. Service was okay, we had a long wait for our food. Sat outside, hate the view. Prices were very reasonable and I'd go back again for girls nite out.

I don't understand the allure of dining with a view of 235. They could easily have put a patio out back with some trees etc.

We went for dinner last night. The menu was what I expected being that the place is called "Cheeseburger in Paradise". The drink menu had a lot to offer but didn't list prices so I'm not sure how much mulla it would take to get one's drink on...:eyebrow: The wait was 20 minutes to be seated... the service was good. The burgers were delicious. The prices were reasonable... we'd go again. :yay:

don't know about mixed or beers but the frozen drinks were all 5.50-5.75...not too bad.

We went on SUnday around 2 in the afternoon. I guess everyone else had the same idea because there was a 20-30 min wait. I dont mind, it being a new place and all. Ordered drinks, the waiter seemed kind of confused as to exactly what his job was supposed to be, but he did know the menu well. We ordered salad instead of sides with our meal and they were really good! But they did bring out meals out before we were even done with our salad, l ike I said, theyre new, still trying to get the rythym down. All in all it was as I expected. I had the pulled pork, rather bland actually. Next time Im getting a burger for sure!

went last night

... around 6. The wait was maybe 5 minutes less than the estimated 1 hr wait. It was worth it though. The food was great (fish sandwhich, house pina colada and chocolate nachos) and all very filling. The service was really wonderful too. I was willing to make exceptions for the newness of the place, but our server (Emma) was really perfectly attentive, especially considering how crowded it was. Everything came out in a timely manner (the bar drinks were a bit slow, but she warned us and apologized), and everything was as requested. She didn't forget anything, and was quite pleasant but not over-attentive like some people can be. Honestly, it was the best service (and food) I've had in somd in a while!

The music was ok, not great, but not horrible except for a few bad choices of covers. Overall, the crowd seemed to thin out around 730, so maybe it's better to wait and go later if you don't want to stand outside. Too bad there are no benches to sit on!
