Yes its covered with grass you cant hardly see it because they dont take care ofit.

And I forgot to mention they used to have a neighborhood dump on Thunderbird. I dont know why they let that stay that way for so long. They complained my neighbor had a fallen tree and some garbage bags full of leaves in their yard and sent them threats but allowed the people on Thunderbird be a dump.

They didn't "let it stay that way." It takes time to take legal action against someone. It had to work through the court system, and as soon as there was a judgement it was cleaned up.

Well spoken Dan...

CRE is a great place to live...I've been here for 10 years and I love it more now than I did 10 years ago...

Someone caught a 7 1/ pound Bass out of the lake a few weeks ago... and put it back so we can catch it again...

The Bay boat launch is scheduled for replacement... The campgrounds is a great place to ride bikes or take a nature walk...

I always hear this chatter about the crime in there... but you rarely see CRE in the crime reports in the newspapers.... I haven't been bothered with any crime in the 10 years I've lived there...

Maybe it's realtors trying to steer people to more expensive neighborhoods, you never know....

Sure there are some roads in CRE that will never be paved... but you're right... in the winter... our main roads are passable.... when the county roads aren't.

I love living in CRE and I would definitely recommend it to someone who wants to live near the Bay and raise a family..... We are lucky to have some of the best schools in the State... we have wonderful teachers who live right in CRE.... we have all kinds of churches and there is plenty for the youth to do... I simply love it here...

I coulndn't agree more. I moved my family here 4 years ago, against many negative comments I had heard from people about what a bad place CRE was. We looked at the neighborhood, spoke to the CRE office and even spoke to a few police officers about the crime in the neighborhood and decided this was where we wanted to raise our family. I have a police scanner that I am ADDICTED to, I have a base unit that runs 24 hours a day and a portable that goes everywhere I go...........I can honestly say, the worst thing that happens in CRE are domestic disputes. You will have them no matter where you go. There is much more crime in White Sands, which is a much smaller community. This is just according to what I read in the crime reports and hear on my scanner. I would highly recommend CRE.

I have a friend who lives there, it seems pretty nice but she is always telling me how high the taxes are to live there. Maybe your friend should check out the property taxes before she makes a committment.

reply about CRE

I have a friend who lives in the Chesapeake Ranch Estates. It seems a nice place to live but apparently there are a lot of houses for sale in her neighborhood. When I asked about it she tells me that the property taxes are causing people to have to move. So your friend should check this out before committing to something there.

Recently they have been doing a lot more to regrade the gravel roads, I've noticed I do not cringe as much when I drive through them. Algonquin does need repaving though.

I'd really rather have a sidewalk put in on Catalina and Gunsmoke/Tomahawk, than to get the sideroads paved. Get the kids out of the road and allow other people to walk and not worry about getting hit.

One thing to point out, driftwood beach doesn't have an on duty lifegaurd, i dont know about seahorse, I believe there are signs stating to swim at own risk.

Really there is hardly any crime in CRE. The worse thing most people ever have to deal with is the occasional mailbox getting beamed with a baseball bat.

And cleaned up quickly, it looks like they are upkeeping it too.

I don't know about Driftwood (2nd beach, I think - right?). I haven't been there in eons. I didn't even know there was a playground there now.

All these beaches have names now. We always just used to call them, 1st Beach, 2nd Beach, and The Lake Beach.

That is what I grew up knowing them as many of the old timers I talk to who have moved out still refer to them as 1st and 2nd beach. And then there is secret beach (at least thats what I heard it called) In between 1st and
2nd , no parking lot, there was a clear area without any cliffs, real shallow water, great for kids.

i guess i live in a nice quite area, i moved in cre the end of december i have great neighbors. its always nice when i have the windows open you can hear people working outside kids playing. as for the roads since i have been here they have graded the roads coming into my place twice. i havent been able to enjoy the member areas as of yet but they seem to be nice. now i am an avid scanner person also and i have listened to calls but no more than i did living in st. leonard. i know i have only been here for a few months but i like it and my neighbors all wave to us. guess its like any where you live its whos around you and how you live.

I agree that the property taxes are high, but they are high no matter where you go. I think alot of the reason there are so many houses for sale is that we are very close to a Military Base and there are alot of people being transferred which causes alot of home sales.

I have lived here for almost 7 years and I love it. As with all communities, you have good and bad but I believe the good out weighs the bad.

I live in the Chesapeake Ranch Estates and it used to be okay. Not so much anymore. I am just renting a house and I live on Crazy Horse Trail. A little while ago my boyfriend's tire was slashed and so were my neighbor's cars. then sometime over the weekend someone threw eggs at my windows. And I also found in a burnt paper towel garlic...I had to scrap garlic off my windows! I can't wait until I catch one of these punks...

When I lived in CRE it was listed as a Crime Hot Spot.
We even got grants for programs and to help pay for
a resident contract deputy (who was usually somewhere
else instead of being in CRE).

I finally moved after our home (along with 10 others)
was broken into and weapons were used in the commission
of these break-ins. The house STILL has the hole in
the floor where the little "misunderstood angels" fired
the gun into it!

One reason you don't see "crime stats" for CRE is because
the Sheriff Dept usually records/reports them as "Lusby
Area" incidents. You need to actually contact the Sheriff
Dept. and ask specifically for CRE incident stats and you
will get them that way.

Been gone for 5 years now and moved to a different state
and area where such things don't happen, and when they do,
the "poor little children" are actually incarcerated and do
thier proper time! And my new state does NOT believe in
parole! You do your ENTIRE time! Hence the problem is
not as bad as that in the "enlightened" People's Republik
of Merryland where everyone except the innocent have "rights".

they usually give a street name, which you can tell whether it is the CRE or not.

Sure ever since they let section 8 housing in there it did get worse, but it is not horrible. what happened to you could happen anywhere.

Have you been to the Neighborhood Watch meeting yet? We have one that meets on the 3rd Monday of the month. They can help take care of "these punks"... our local police officer is there every month...

We are renting off of Crazy Horse Trl as well and it's pretty quiet. Although our truck recently got egged as well. The cops seem to be called alot at the neighbors and we haven't heard nice things about the house but other than that I really can't complain. BTW hello fellow neighbor.

BOXER NATION
The more things change the more they (complaints) stay the same.
My parents bought in 1963, built in 1968, when there were 650 houses in the Ranch Club.
Now there are probably 4000 houses and the place is definitely a small town. Anytime you have a lot of people living close together there will be friction.
Having said that roads have always been worse than they are now, they are being worked on and improved constantly. The beaches (including secret beach) and the lake are some of the few places down here you can go to without being shooed away by a waterfront owner.
The schools are some of the better ones in Maryland, the police try their best, but like anywhere else, it's up to the individual to keep an eye out.
As far as Realtors taking customers somewhere else - chill out - the CRE is the first place prospective buyers are taken.
It's a town, with good and bad sections, just take a look around at the neighbors to see where you would like to live.

I also live on Crazy Horse Tr. and have been there for almost 20 years. We have had MANY issues on this street for the past few years. It is due to a couple of specific houses which I am sure you know. Before these certain people came along it was a fabulous, quiet street.

I didn't hear about the tire slashing and egging though. Which house are you in? You can PM me as I would love to talk to you. There are several of us neighbors that are working to get the specific residents removed and our efforts are proving successful. One is gone already!!

The CRE Activities committee is currently planning block parties all over CRE to get neighbors involved [nothing brews involvement more than a little block party]

Do you think that Crazy Horse and adjoining lots would like it?
