Child neglect?

yay nanny state and the people that support it :yay:

Yay dead kids in cars and the people who ignore it.

This is one of those laws that was enacted because stupid people keep on getting their kids dead. I'm far from a nanny state type, but I do support laws that protect kids from dying just because their parents are stupid.

If we stop letting stupid people breed, we wouldn't need laws like this.

Food Lion in Lexington Park. I think this was before I even had kids, so like 10 years ago.

I don't get people. Like this thread for instance. How does liberty think this is "okay"..? She has children, if I remember correctly. Meh, to each their own I guess. Luckily we still have "concerned citizens" that care

Yup, gotta love concerned citizens- I had half of St Mary's Sheriff’s Dept. responding to my house Friday evening for teens with guns. The kids were over for a birthday party and playing Airsoft on my property with all safety gear on and orange tipped guns. After the initial "put the guns down" command scaring them and the "all clear" given it was pretty comical. The 14yr old is now a legend at school for the police crashing his party.

It's just not a party 'til the cops show up.

How old are her children? I'm shocked that anyone would think that it is okay to leave a 2 year old and 9 year old unattended in a car.

People call the police if you leave a dog in the car for too long... How can anyone question about leaving young children unattended in a parking lot

How exactly would the nine year old handle it if the two year old had some sort of a problem? I think, not only is it irresponsible to leave a two year old in the company of a nine year old, it's illegal as well. The lazy azz needs to have their head examined.

No clue....I could be confusing her with someone else (ya know, I've got a bit of 'baby brain' going on right now ) but I thought she posted about being pregnant or breast feeding at one time. I don't know.

The only thing that bugs me about this is that if the kid is really in distress, you can't bust out a window without getting arrested yourself.

I'd bust the window anyway.

I don't think I'd leave a 9 year old home alone. I'd leave a 9 year old in the car while I ran into Burchmart for milk or something.

I wouldn't leave a 9 year old supervising a 2 year old while I went full fledged grocery shopping.

Pretty much how I feel about it.

My question is how the kids are taken care of otherwise and what the penalty will be.

See y'all. ^^This^^ is what you get when you neglect your child. A clueless dolt.

Not saying leaving kids in the car alone is right by any means....

but how many of you were crying about the new law for not being allowed to smoke in cars with kids? Sprouting nanny state and the like.....isn't this the same crap?

I don't think its right to leave kids in the car.....or to smoke with kids in the car.
But thinning the herd everynow and then can't be that bad of a thing. If their parents are that much of an idiot; how great are they going to turn out?

Im not kidding

A 9 year old is plenty old enough to use a cell phone or get help if there is something wrong. I see no issue with it. For God's sake the store is like 20 ft away. Kids that age used to watch the farm while their parents went to town...are kids these days really less capable of surviving for a few minutes while their parents run into the store? When I was nine I was a mother's helper to a neighbor of mine, and her daughter was around that age..I watched her while she ran down the street to grab the mail or visited a neighbor to borrow something...we even (god forbid) sat int he car while she ran in and out of places running errands. We read books and knew not to opent he door for anyone but her. Miraculously we survived. Not to mention I was already a latch key kid by then myself in the morning and evening. we aren't talking about an infant here.
