You're the only one who said anything about mental illness. Most of today's behaviors can be attributed to bad manners and a lack of discipline.
I made a different assumption than you did. I don't know what your proffession or qualifications are, but I deal with children and adults whith different forms of mental illness on a daily basis. The probelm is because people can't see the illness, they attribute it to bad behavior and poor manners, when in my experience much of it is attributed to a psychological disorder, diagnosed by a professional.
People look at mental illness with disdain, while treating other illnesses with empathy. Neither of the people afflicted with either type of illness has chosen to be afflicted.
I understand bad manners and parenting as well! However, when a parent is looking for a psychologist or a therapist, they don't sound like a poor parent to me. They sound like someone who has recognized they need help or expertise outside of their capabilities.
