Surge doesn't seem to be working very well. Better surge some more troops over pronto.

BAGHDAD, March 17 -- Three trucks rigged with chlorine bombs exploded in the insurgent stronghold of Anbar province Friday, in the latest efforts by insurgents to use the toxic chemical to boost the lethal power of their attacks, U.S. military officials announced Saturday.

The U.S. officials said at least 350 people and seven U.S. soldiers were injured and two policemen were killed in the attacks. As many as 10 civilians may have been killed in two of the blasts near Fallujah, said Col. Sami Jabara, a spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior.

perhaps we should have an immediate withdrawal so the chlorine WMDs could be deployed in the New York subway. The confined space would make them much more effective.

The kooks have conveniently forgotten about 9-11 and think the only reason we're being attacked is because we're on terrorist turf. If we'd go home and leave them be, all would be hunky dory.

Because, of course, the war we're in now has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with 9-11. Not even in a remote way and no connection at all.

Its about time to take the "Aid and Comfort" clauses to their proper application and round-up, prosecute and hang the entire left wing.

The 'Surge' Is Succeeding

And though it is still early and horrible acts of violence continue, there is substantial evidence that the new counterinsurgency strategy, backed by the infusion of new forces, is having a significant effect.

Some observers are reporting the shift. Iraqi bloggers Mohammed and Omar Fadhil, widely respected for their straight talk, say that "early signs are encouraging.
America’s surge is starting to work – but can it last?
Amid the poverty-stricken filth of Zafaraniya — a Shia suburb in southeast Baghdad — many Iraqis say that the visible increase in the US, Iraqi Army and police presence makes them feel safer and has eased the fear of rogue checkpoints and kidnap squads.

Operation Squeeze Play makes Ramadi safer
“This operation cleared out known anti-Iraqi safe havens and led to the establishment of four Iraqi police sub-stations," said 1st Armored Division, 1st Brigade spokesman Marine Maj. Riccoh Player. "We welcome the assistance of the Iraqi tribes who helped make this operation successful. This will make the city safer for its residents.”
There are now 14 police stations in the city today, compared to three in July of last year, and eight additional stations are planned for construction.
Police recruiting in the city has recently surged from only a few dozen as recently as September last year, to more than one thousand applicants in the first two weeks of this month.

According to the Repugnicans cutting off funding would embolden the enemy and not be supporting our troops.

Homesick said:
Since this war with Iraq started, the Democrats have been squealing about Iraq was the most horrible mistake this nation has ever made. They have been in power for months. They have the power to cut off funding and end this conflict in Iraq right now. Correct?

If this is such a horrible mistake, then why aren't they doing everything they can to correct it? Why are they jabbering and trying to pass toothless resolutions?

The power is in their hands now. As far as I am concerned, as of the day they took power, they could have immediately ended it. They didn't. Therefore, the blood of our soldiers is on their hands. Every American soldier who has been wounded, maimed, and killed since the day they took power, their blood is now on their hands.

If they truly care about our soldiers, as they claim, our soldiers would all have been home right now. I can come to only one reason why our soldiers aren't home: The democrats really don't give a flying crap about our soldiers, as they claim. They just wanted power and nothing more. They so nakedly wanted power, they used the blood of our soldiers to get it.

How do you propose ending this mess? You are going to brainwash millions of muslims and all the Islamocrats to love America so they will never attack us??

What we are doing now is working, taking the fight to them instead of fighting them in the streets or your home town. Of course if that did happen I'm sure you would seek them out to talk, to give them support against your own countrymen.. as long as they left you alone.

Make them love us? Isn't that what we're trying to do now?

Getting the hell out is better than being meat on the end of a stick, which is what our troops are now.

How to you expect all these Iraqis to get over here anyway? They're only attacking us because we're occupying their country. We leave, and that's the end of them attacking us.

Sorry, I haven't had any suicidal tendencies for years now.

After the explosion that killed four U.S. soldiers on Saturday, the unit came under fire and another soldier was wounded. During this month's crackdown in the capital, the battalion had found eight weapons caches and two roadside bombs and helped rescue a kidnap victim, the military said.

An explosion in Diyala province northeast of Baghdad killed another soldier Saturday and injured five. A sixth soldier died Saturday in a non-combat related incident, the military said. A U.S. Marine also was killed Saturday in fighting in Anbar, according to a separate statement.

Saturday's deaths brought to at least 3,217 members of the U.S. military who have died since the Iraq war started in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
