Chopticon HS makes national news

Stupid? Sounds funny and completely harmless.

And I thought I saw somewhere that there is a known unlocked door at that school - if so, trespassing at best. And hold the idiot school responsible for not securing their doors. They are lucky the kids (and the community in general) are so honest.

Having a grandson who is senior at Chopticon, and was not involved in this prank, apparently there is a door that does not secure or close properly that students are aware of, and this is the door that they entered thru.

This just in... anchorman Brian Williams... senior prank adult getaway driver... story at 11.

They should hold up their diplomas until they scour the school with shop vac's and suck up all the bugs, count them all placing them in bug friendly packaging 1,000 each. they have to keep at it until all 72,000 are accounted for.

Great. Kill the bugs. Then PETA will be all over their butts for mass murder. Westboro Baptist will picket with signs - "God Hates Ladybugs".

As you can see, this was not a good idea.

In all seriousness, next years senior class has a GREAT opportunity to ride on the coattails of this viral news story... some time this summer should be spent organizing a "how to make your own ladybug costume" event and imagine the crimeless fun it would be to have the entire senior class come to school dressed as a ladybug for one of the "costume days" during homecoming week!

Since the school's mascot is offensive to some, why not change it to the Lady Bugs and be done with it.

Not sure if it has been said yet but that door has been broken since atleast 2000 when I went there. My brother said it was like that when he graduated in 96, He said there was a teacher that even told him just to come in that door and go to his locker when he forgot something.

Good luck getting rid of these ladybugs. My grandmother got some in her house years ago and every summer they start coming out of the ceiling. I guess they lay their eggs in the drop ceiling and hatch in the spring and summer. After she died and the house was sold the new owners called in an exterminator and it still didn't get rid of them completely. It cut them down from hundreds to dozens but they are still there. As for the punishment, maybe the protesters can chip in and raise money for the cleanup and extermination of the bugs. If the ones in trouble are proactive and show they are willing to make things right it might go a long way when they go to court.

Unbelievable! Sounds like school officials, and probably the resource officer likely knew about the unsecure status of this exterior door and did nothing to fix it.

I'll bet that door gets fixed this week.
