I hope the citizen makes an example out of the cop. Too many of them do it all over our country but no one stands up to them. Hopefully we will be able to hear the outcome of this.

Before the posts start...I am all for cops/firefighter/EMT etc. for the jobs they do everyday. It's the ones that abuse their status that gives them a bad name.

As far as I understand it a cop can illegally park to hit a restaurant. They have to have their vehicle close by in case of a call comes in. And they do have to eat.

That was my thinking

I don't want Mr. Donut having to run 3 blocks to his cruiser if my family is in distress

He parked in a no parking zone to pick up his take out food. Big F-in deal. Good for the cop! Who here can say they have never done it. I know I have.

Being an officer of the law does not allow you to break the law. I see it all the time.... there is a reason that spot is marked "no parking"

I've also seen cruisers with their lights on going through lights and traffic and they end up at a local business food or otherwise.... It's the officers supervisor who should be contacted and who should take action. In the case cited in the article, it was someone who recently passed their bar exam.... an officer of the court... Isn't the first time I've seen a lawyer take a cop down a notch. Good for him.

Nobody is above the law I agree....but........have you never parked in a no parking zone????? I know I have. I also know I have speeded, parked in a handicap spot:whistle:, left my car running without watching it the list could go on and on. I have also parked in the red zone at school. It happens. Is it really worth the time and money to fight this in court???. Can this guy really say he has always obeyed the traffic laws???

You know what you're doing is illegal but you choose to do so anyway??? Does your husband know how much contempt you have for his chosen profession?

Hey I never said I was perfect. He is well aware that I like most do not follow all the traffic laws. If I get a ticket then I deserve it.

There's a big difference that you fail to recognize.

When the general populace does it - we do it knowing that it's against the law - and know that we can get fined for it.

When police do it - they do it because they know they can get away with it.

It's a flimsy excuse to say "we need to be close to our vehicles in case of an emergency..."

I drove an ambulance - I was a medic - we always parked our rig lawfully.

Yeah.

But, I bet when you get a ticket - and if it's in the realm of possibility - your husband will/can get rid of it.

And if you say no - then you're a complete liar...

Done this.

Nope.

I never even thought about it.

Is it really worth the time and money to fight this in court???.

Not for me. But then, I'm not spending the time or money, so it's not for me to say. However, it sounds to me like the guy doing this is doing it out of spite, or to make a statement, rather than respect for the law.
