Yeah.
But, I bet when you get a ticket - and if it's in the realm of possibility - your husband will/can get rid of it.
And if you say no - then you're a complete liar...
As far as I understand it a cop can illegally park to hit a restaurant. They have to have their vehicle close by in case of a call comes in. And they do have to eat.
Even if it's a , I don't care. He's in uniform, in a cruiser, he's on duty. He's probably gonna eat in the car while doing his job.
Nobody is above the law I agree....but........have you never parked in a no parking zone????? I know I have. I also know I have speeded, parked in a handicap spot, left my car running without watching it the list could go on and on. I have also parked in the red zone at school. It happens. Is it really worth the time and money to fight this in court???. Can this guy really say he has always obeyed the traffic laws???
Which it sounds like this is the case. The cop went into the restaurant got his food and returned to his car. Are you telling me you are comfortable with a cop having to part a football field away then gets a call. The distance could be the difference between him responding to your house in time.
Hmm, good point. There must be other laws that don't apply to a Law Enforcement Officer too...
Lets make a big list of laws Law Enforcement Officers can break with impunity!
How are we to respect the law when the cop isn't respecting what he is supposed to uphold?? Lead by example....
However, it sounds to me like the guy doing this is doing it out of spite, or to make a statement, rather than respect for the law.

I can't say that I have. At least not that I'm aware of. If the no parking sign said "No parking except for emergency vehicles", then the cop would be fine but it didn't say that. Part of good law enforcement is setting an example. The "needing to be close to the vehicle" arguement holds no water. If that need is real, than an exemption should be written into the law books allowing police (and paramedics) to utilize those parking zones. Until then, it would be nice to have law enforcement personel live by the laws they're charged with enforcing. Hats off to the lawyer who's following through with this.He parked in a no parking zone to pick up his take out food. Big F-in deal. Good for the cop! Who here can say they have never done it. I know I have.

Yes, lets...
I agree we shouldn't break the law. Most states that have driving with a cell phone law exempt police officers and other first responders. As far as speeding, I don't think police officers should automatically get away with speed, but I do believe if they are pulled over then they should get any courtesy you would extend to the average citizen.Speeding
Talking on cell phones while driving (in states that say it's illegal)

Courtesy exteneded to the average citizen? What is an average citizen? Just stirrin the pot on that one. My understanding of your statement would be if a cop were to get pulled over, which will never happen, a ticket would depend on the other cop's attitude that day and whether or not he/she wants to be leniant.I agree we shouldn't break the law. I can't think of any. care to help me out?
That's the only part that matters. Nobody is above the law (Except Steven Seagal. Oh, and Chuck Norris).
