Commute to Andrews AFB

It's been a while since we lived in the county and I've heard a lot of the road ways, especially around Hughesville, have changed. I was curious what the commute up to Andrews was like these days...coming from the Mechanicsville area.

Terrible or tolerable?

Thanks for your input.

That might depend on the time. At least an hour would be my guess during the 7am commute.

I make the commute up to Andrews from Lusby and it usually takes me about an hour to get to the suitland parkway exit off 4. I am on route 4 by 5:40 a.m. most days.

I have taken route 5/231 through Prince Frederick before and it isn't any faster for me...

As far as traffic goes, the earlier you leave the better, that goes for AM and PM.

I did it several years ago and hated the drive to and from. I now work 5 minutes from home and will never go any further, I don't care how much of a pay raise I am offered. My time is valuable. Also, you never know about the price of gas. Make sure it's worth the drive.

Not sure about the Waldorf to Andrews commute, but the commute through Edgewater this afternoon was 45 minutes! It's normally 10- 15 minutes.

Learn the back roads and you don't have to go through Brandywine traffic. Rt 5 to Gallant Green to 381 to Missouri to 301 to Frank Tippett to Dower House to back entrance to Andrews or on up to Rt 4 to Suitland Parkway.
