What happened with TL's engine? He had a good run!!crabcake said:And it wasn't Jeff Burton's engine; it was Terry Labonte's ... I thought I heard 'em say Jeff Burton, too.

His team tinkered with the carbeurator.Mikeinsmd said:What happened with TL's engine? He had a good run!!
That's what pisses me off about it; it's not like JJ's a Kirk Shelmerdine or Kyle Petty that continuously finishes 20th or worse; he's a consistent front runner ... so why bother with such a stupid risk? The unbiased part of me almost does wanna see his ass suspended for a couple weeks.kom526 said:You'd think that after getting caught cheating last year, Knaus would've knocked it off. :stupidcriminal:
I was looking at an article at Jayski's.com, read what they had to say. Do you think JJ had any inkling what they'd done to the carburator?crabcake said:That's what pisses me off about it; it's not like JJ's a Kirk Shelmerdine or Kyle Petty that continuously finishes 20th or worse; he's a consistent front runner ... so why bother with such a stupid risk? The unbiased part of me almost does wanna see his ass suspended for a couple weeks.
No, but I bet he knew about the tinkering with his rear windshield or track bar ... whatever the hell it was.Penn said:I was looking at an article at Jayski's.com, read what they had to say. Do you think JJ had any inkling what they'd done to the carburator?
You know who I meant! Wonder if TB knew? Do the crew chiefs necesarily tell their drivers that they've added "a little something" to the car?crabcake said:No, but I bet he knew about the tinkering with his rear windshield or track bar ... whatever the hell it was.
the carbeurator infraction was on Terry Labonte's car.
I don't know if they tell the drivers or not, to be honest. I'd have to think that they do discuss it ... but even if they don't, it's a team. And when the crew chief is penalized, I think they oughta make the driver sit out for that race as well -- yea, even my guy. It'd send a clear message to the owners to quit allowing their teams to do this kinda crap when they start pissing off sponsors who pay to be out on that track and aren't because of this kind of stuff. Now, if it's a gray area that Nascar hasn't clarified, and a team uses that to their advantage, then oh well. But if it's a clear rule violation, they should lay the smack down ... and yes, that includes MY team.Penn said:You know who I meant! Wonder if TB knew? Now, we were talking about Johnson's car at work this morning, and the post-inspection revelation about the rear window area modification. It gave him more downdraft, or something? How much of an advantage was he getting?
The sponsor should not have to suffer due to the team's dishonesty. Instead of suspending the driver, make him race but do not give him any driver points. With the chase to the cup format losing out on posibly several hundred points will crush your chances of getting a seat at the head table at season's end.crabcake said:I don't know if they tell the drivers or not, to be honest. While that idea is reasonable, it's still not enough, IMO. You threaten their relationship with that sponsor (sponsor = $$$$$$) by suggesting they may park the team for that week, and they sit up and take notice, because they know that cash cow is the one footing the bill for all their toys, lifestyle, retirement, etc.kom526 said:The sponsor should not have to suffer due to the team's dishonesty.
