anyone remember what used to be at the intersection of 245/235 (south bound side across from burchmart) before they tore it down to make room for the new road?

Proably many signs advertising just about everything and every event going on in SoMd. :killingme Drove past that corner last week and was amazed at the number of signs that were up.

Geez, I can't remember what was there & I used to live in that area!

Although, I moved in 1994, so whatever it was might not have been there at that time, either.

When I moved back to SoMd, I'd been away 11 years. A lot had changed, especially from Hollywood to Pax River!

All I remember is some sort of garden/pottery center that I think was called Alice's Wonderland.

The theaters in Lexington Park were the Park and Plaza - the Plaza where the post office is now and the Park where The Mixing Bowl is.

I'll have to revisit this when I have more time as I just skimmed it for now. Neat thread and brought back lots of memories, plus I learned some things too. :yay:

Some questions for y'all:

What store was the old K-Mart (Millison Plaza) originally?
What was the original grocery store in St. Mary's Square?
What was Cadillac Jack's way before it was a bar?

I'll try to think of more when I'm not so tired.

Cadillac Jack's was Cedar Lanes Bowling Alley.
Wasn't that an A&P in the square, then it moved to Millison Plaza?

Maybe, but I remember it as Lemar Lanes.

No, it was a Grand Union. That I do remember as there was SO much excitement when St. Mary's County got its first "shopping mall."

And the old K-Mart building started life as a W.R. Grant's. :peace:

I don't remember it ever being Cedar Lanes. I thought after Lemar Lanes closed it became the Patuxent Recreation Center (PRC). I could be mistaken as it was a LONG time ago.
