Cry Me a River CNN: Mom FORCED To Live In Car

bcp

In My Opinion
she should come to Maryland, burn her ID and only speak spanish. She will be living good in no time at all.
Marty loves the little brown peoples of the world.

by the way, did they mention what kind of car it is? is it nice?

I bowl overhand
She said that three-quarters of her income went to paying rent
Like this wasn't a clue that she was in trouble??

Good thing she didn't buy a house where a lender wouldn't have allowed 75% of her income to go towards her payment.

Of course if she BOUGHT a house when she was 30 it would have been bought and paid for, but such is the life of a renter.

And she's FORCED to live in a car, but has enough money to care for two dogs??

A 19 yr old is most likely struggling also. I'd be pretty irritated if my parent needed financial help from me if I was only 19-ESPECIALLY if she was irresponsible with her finances.

It's one thing to let a parent live with you, but to financially support them?

she is 67, it is doubtful any of her kids are younger than 27....

but still, its your mom. how can you not help her? It might not be the most fun thing to do, but she needs you.

its a no brainer, you help your mom.

its not like she is on welfare and not working.....

you are correct about this.
you help your parents.

it will be a cold cold day in hell before My parents are living in a parking lot in their car.

I mean, damn, a tent can be bought at walmart for like 40 bucks and a bucket for the toilet you can get at the dollar store.

Like I said, it's not like I wouldn't let her live with me, but if I was also financially unstable (as most 19 yr olds are), I would not (and probably could not) support her.

She should have known better to get into that predicament. Too bad, so sad. Maybe she's not living with her kids because she was a crappy parent and they hate her?

I'd definitely take the dogs though. :lmao:

speaking from experience?

my mom would be living with me before she is sleeping in a car, thats for sure. even if she was financially irresponsible.

and AK-74, i didn't get read all the way to the end. I would think her having kids at 48 was crazy, and barley possible.......

I'm talking about a 19 yr old. When I was 19, I was living with roommates and struggling to pay for college.

I take it you haven't had the joy of constantly helping people out of trouble, then seeing them go right back into it. I have.

I've rescued relatives from bad situations too many times. It finally got to the point I had to say no.

I'm reading my own experience into this situation, but if she has three kids that aren't helping, maybe she burned that bridge?

Maybe they are setting limits that she is unwilling to live with?

Maybe there is substance abuse involved?

Maybe her kids are worse off than she is?

what i do know is that i wouldn't let my mom live in her car.

we would have rules and limits at my house, but she wouldn't be in her car until she effed up at my house. Its your mom for christ's sake.

two of the three live out of the country, the third, 19, lived with her until she became homeless, and went to live with friends to avoid having to be in the same situation......

I dont know how you can get "she effed up at her kids house" from that.

If I was 19, I would not want to have to support my grown mother who was stupid enough to live in a place that took the majority of her income. Damn, couldn't she see that was stupid?

My two are already talking about the nice retirement/nursing home they will put me in.

St. Thomas doesn't have to read. He knows the answers to all. :notworthy

I'm 20. I make a decent amount of money. But, not enough to support my mom, even if she had her own job.

The insurance companies also rob drivers who are under 25. My insurance payment is slightly over $400/month. The freakin' car costs less than that. Insurance is mandatory in Maryland.

Guess what? No insurance, no car, no job, no money. :jet:

Don't get me ranting on the rest of it. I'm glad St. Thomas thinks it's up to a 19 year-old kid to support their parents. But, he's obviously not living in the real world. :duh:

talk about not living in the real world.

maybe little andy boy should have bought a car with more reasonable insurance premiums. and there is a reason insurance is mandatory in MD, but i wouldn't expect a boy to understand that.

besides, isn't andy still living in his mommies basement?
