I know I may be out on a limb here, but if it was me, I probably wouldn't have accepted the tip

I would think that ANY tip added to a credit card would have to be claimed.

Okay... I'l bite :)doh:) Why not...

I don't know, I guess I'm just humble or something... its too much... just the same if someone (an almost stranger) was to give me a car or something for Christmas -- Its too much.

I think somewhere there's an etiquette rule or something not to accept gifts over 50.00 or something. I coudl be wrong  so for me 1) it just wouldn't feel right, I'd feel a little weird accepting it and 2) although unspoken, I'd still wonder what kind of expectations he had for giving me that money, whether realized or not  If he did it drunk (as he may have been at the bar), that's a completely different story... the money's all mine :yahoo: :yahoo:

Sorry ya' asked?

Welcome to the Dems school of logic and reasoning

Its his fault he was drunk, not mine. If he did it drunk I'd think it was spur of the moment nothing thought out, and just a gesture of niceness; but if he did it sober, I'd think there were strings or something attached and would just generally feel ackward and that it would be too much and I'd return the tip. The more I think about it, the more I'd think I'd probably return it either way, its too much  I guess I'm old school or something :frown: Do you want to test me and give me 10K and I'll let you know my answer for sure?

I think you read a little to much into my post. Thats not at all what I was trying to emply. I mearly stated that she might have been able to walke away with the full 10k. But now she will be under the microscope to file the income to the IRS.

Sorry if I missed your emplication. I guess it was a double-edged sword but she still should have claimed it irregardless of whether it was publicized or not

I don't see nothing wrong with her keeping the money. He obviously has money to spare and I think it must be fun for him to be able to give it out to people he wants rather than to some faceless charity.
