:howdy: You used to be able to buy bumpers there. As long as you had money, they didn't care how old you were.
Twenty-five+ years ago you could buy beer like that almost anywhere in St. Marys. :lmao:

Ahhhhh the good ole days. :nostalgic:

If there was an Olympics for stupid questions, mine would earn me a gold medal...What is a "bumper" of beer? (Isn't it pathetic that I've lived almost four decades and I still know nothing about alcohol?)

I wanted to ask this question earlier. I figure you must have to be a local. Since I've only been here 15 years, I know I'm not a local. Although my kids were born here, I realize they are not locals, but their children may be.

There are no stupid questions...only stupid people.

A bumper is a oversized bottle or can of beer. You still see them in the 7-11/Sheetz/Wawa's around here. I think they were/are equivalent to two or three beers. It's been so long I can't remember - or I've killed enough brain cells back then and since then my memory is gone.

More like quarts I'd say. I guess the local dialect always called them bumpers around here.

1 Bumper = 1 Quart = 32 oz.

We called them bumpers in Norfolk also.
Don't confuse this with a Bump which is something very different.

Actually, I don't know about them closing. But I do know about the liquor license.

They were busted for selling to a minor police cadet. Their license was held by a Charles County resident who also happened to be a now EX-Employee. So he's not out to do them any favors, and surrenders the license during the meeting to save his own personal hide from future damage. Deputy Mills sent to retrieve the license after the meeting.

Now, Dash-In has to reapply for their liquor license. But if you guys are saying they have closed, then the Liquor Board wasn't too happy about the alleged forgery from previous years. So I guess they denied their application?

I haven't seen the meeting where they reapplied. Can't imagine them closing though, unless they couldn't get a new license.

Surprised this was missed by the media, especially St. Mary's Today??

I thought there was a posting of an application for a new license to run the dash-in, but I don't know if that hearing has been held or what the results were.
