I can understand having them on your bike, but I can't understand having them on cars (bigger objects). IMHO, if somebody can't see your car coming in the daytime without the lights, turning them on sure won't make any difference. (The exception, of course, being reduced visibility due to heavy clouds, fog, or rain.)
Ding Ding Ding ...We have a winner!! :yeahthat: :yay:

But once everyone has their headlights on all the time, you won't notice anymore. It won't be out of the ordinary.

Good point, I would think after awhile, people would become desensitized to it.

Had a girl at work complaing about how she had to use her lighter to be able to see her speedometer because it was dark coming in to work. Asked her why she didn't turn on her headlights and she said she could see the road OK. When I asked her if other people could see her if it was to dark to see the speedo and she was all

I'm for them....

My 'Yota has two levels of brightness; day run and brighter for night.

Lights help people notice, especially lighter colored cars on darker days.

Not paying enough attention is, to me, the cause of just about all accidents.

If we can see each other just a bit better because DRL catch our attention just a bit better and/or quicker , well, good thing, nes pas?

I drive with my headlights on all the time, I really think it makes people notice the car better than with them off.

I personally see cars faster with their headlights on.
:yeahthat: Turning them on is as automatic as putting on my seatbelt now. I think it increases the ability of other drivers to see you, especially if you're in a dark car.

:yeahthat: I've used my headlights during the day since I started driving so it's second nature for me now.

Why not have them? I'm sure an accident investigator has heard "I didn't see him coming" a whole lot of times. Anyone driving a highway with crossroads should be able to see the safety factor of DRL's. Rt. 4 and the intersections of Patuxent Parkway, White Sands and Brooms Island Road lost some lives because drivers didn't see what was coming. Some cars blend in with the surrounding quite well and the DRL's can make a big difference.

I dunno. . . people still hit huge yellow school buses with strobe lights on top. Like was mentioned earlier, some people are just too stupid to drive. No amount of DRLs or bright-azz headlights or taillights is going to help.

And, IMHO, people get hit coming out of Broomes Island and White Sands because they don't know how to use an acceleration lane. The one coming out of White Sands is double what is used to be and I still have :dork: pulling right out in front of me.

"Gee, I'm doing twenty miles an hour. I wonder what will happen if I pull out in front of someone doing close to 70? What does that hand gesture mean?"

This horse is just about dead :deadhorse but......what is the problem? I'm on several automobile boards and there's always a post about disabling DRL's. IMO they look good. They make your vehicle more noticeable and I don't see how that fact can be denied.

I think they are great and turn mine on so that others won't be stupid and can see me. The problem I see with the lights that are automatically on is that some people are too stupid to turn their real lights on at night, so they have no tail-lights.

At some point, people will be such stupid drivers that cars will come automatically equipped with lights that turn on when you start the car and stay on. OH..and wipers that automatically come on when it rains.

hmmm I wonder if they can make it so that blinkers come on as soon as you "think" you might be wanting to turn.

I think it's Mercedes that has wipers that come on automatically when it rains, and a lot of cars come with sensors that turn your lights on when it gets dark. My Toyota and Chevy both have that.
