Dead Body in Safeway Parking Lot Bryans Road

And I highly doubt that a guy between 19-25 died of natural causes. There is probably more to that story I am sure. almost 3 years ago we moved out of Strawberry Hills down to Marshall Hall area - very close to the river. It is SO different down there and I LOVE it! I hope the county NEVER allows the infrastructure needed to develop to come down the hill. I'll take dial up internet, satellite TV and crappy cell phone service ANY DAY over drug dealing in my front yard and the possibility of gang wars. Not to say it's perfect down our way - but it's MUCH better - like stepping back in time 20 years. Nice! We actually drive the back way to the house through Accokeek and shop up there as well for the most part. It's nice to not have to be exposed to Bryans Road too often but I can see it's gotten much worse in the last 5 years even.

I have never liked Bryans Road and have moved away multiple times - fate keeps drawing me back and I've decided to stop fighting it and stay put for the duration or until I can afford to move way out into the stix and not have to commute for a well paying job! However, the Bryans Road of my younger years is a much better memory to carry as opposed to the present day.

Anyone remember Xene's - the little sub shop where Pizza Hut is now? I used to work there! I feel so old when I think about the Dart Drug days.

I live 5 minutes away also. I was just in Safeway and the cashier was telling me about it - first I heard anything.

Somewhere along the lines that I was thinking.

Why can't the police have better enforcement of these issues - everyone knows what is going on for Pete's Sake - everyone even knows they've been selling weed out of Pizza Hut for YEARS.

What is stopping the enforcement? I bet if they observed the goings on over at the damn detailing/barber shop/tattoo parlor they'd have a major news drug bust in no time!

*cough*Heroin*cough*

Well, it is pretty prevalent amongst the druggies hereabouts...

*cough*

I grew up in that area too!!! Over in Potomac Heights by Indian Head. I got the heck out of there 20 years ago and now here I sit in Lusby and the thing damn thing has followed me to Calvert!!

But the memories of Potomac Heights, Indian Head, Bryans Road and even Waldorf were great. I miss Charles County, it's been gone for years.

Shopper's World was THE place to be on Saturday night! Sometimes I drive around and tell my husband (who is not from around here and didn't live here until 2001) that I remember tobacco fields, other crops, and slot machines all over the place down here - that is felt like country. Now it just feels like yuck. I mean we can't even get any decent place to shop even! How does PG County get Wegman's and "the demographics of our area" don't justify a gourmet grocery store - WTF! The county has been so off base with the direction of development it's pathetic and they keep on moving on - get ready for our own "county connector" and scerw the Mattawoman! Don't you just love the smell of money? Makes people do evil things.

I know the cops at the street level hands are tied - they know about all kinds of stuff and can't make an arrest - I know a couple of cops. This is not just Bryans Road - it's all over the place - a culture of tolerance that allows the rotten to run over the good.

I just wish they could arrest more of these people and at least slow down the activities that are going on in plain site.

What do you suggest they do? Specifically?

I remember Custards last stand..and Xene"s.My hubby and I ate at Xene"s often.I lived in Pot Hghts for 20 yrs.And now in Bryans Road.My daughter work"s in the shopping center, and talks about the crap that goes on there.I work in B.R myself but heard very little about the man dead in the car.Everyone is asking..but no info.Which makes me wonder if this was a local person. Everybody knows everybody around this way and I think a name would be out by now ,if it was a local person.

Something I had not thought of yet - you are probably correct though.

Yes I remember both too. Getting older is SO much fun. I can tell you Xene was a hard person to work for but she was Greek and she cooked some FINE Greek Cuisine!

The car was a 4 door silver Grand Am or Grand Prix. Not real new but newer. I guess we shall wait and see what comes out on this..... Personally I think they want to keep it quiet - they weren't there very long and the CSI work must have been little to none for the amount of time they were there (couple of hours maybe).

There was an arcade in Bryans Road? I remember one that was in Glymont - outside of Pot Heights.

Apperson's then became a sub shop that I can't remember the name and I worked there too.

Was that Apperson's? How about the arcade..Funcade in Bryans Rd?

Yes there was an arcade in that location..believe there is a church in that building now.Don"t remember if there was one here in B.R..I do know years ago (of course) there was a carry-out named Crazy Carry-out.It was in the building that is the laundromat now.It had pool tables and some good subs.

I'm reading this thread and all of the sudden this song came to mind...

Treerat,

Rt. 227 and Rt. 210. The sad thing is some of those older brick homes between the shopping center and the base are very beautiful... it is a shame the area had to go and change so much...

Awe thank you, I really enjoyed that!!! I always say when I go home to Charles County, I can tell who the true Charles Countians are because they speak, that's what I miss the most about Charles County, the warmth of the people. sigh....

This was on the CCSO Facebook page - this is a death investigation in which it appears the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Foul play is NOT invovled.
