Asus - sold at best buy - the name may be new to you but Asus has been making motherboards for years so they are not new to the computer industry.
Well for Laptops/Netbooks, does Asus make any desktop computers?
All the laptops I buy, I'll only consider Asus, that is all I will buy now. I've gotten for me or others in the family, toshiba and HP, all had problems, the HP spent a year dying a slow death and what they wanted for a new motherboard to fix it would have cost the same as buying a new faster laptop. I replaced it with an Asus and couldn't be happier.
If you're up to it, I 2nd the suggestion of just buying a kit online from TigerDirect or NewEgg. If you have good credit, they have interest free finiancing. (Remember, interest free finiancing you can get screwed if you don't pay off in time, then you get slammed for all the interest that accrued over the period they gave you to pay it off and its often at the highest 20% APR plus credit card rate of interest. So know what your getting into.)
Oh, and I only buy Asus or Biostar Motherboards, I've only had problems with one Asus Motherboard, after heavy use for 7 years, its capacitors blew, I got new capacitors off e-bay and soldered them in myself and that motherboard is still going strong on my daughters desktop.
