Be Warned: The Dems Aren’t Finished Hatching Schemes to Keep Trump From Taking Office
The Caller pointed out that “in a Thursday column for The Hill, liberal attorneys Evan Davis and David Schulte argued that Congress can still prevent Trump from taking office on Jan. 20 by rejecting electoral votes on Jan. 6, claiming Trump is disqualified under the 14th Amendment.” As our friend Matt Margolis noted, also on Thursday, Davis and Schulte don’t “cover much new ground.” Their column “references Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which disqualifies individuals who have engaged in insurrection from holding office, despite the fact that Trump did no such thing. Heck, he hasn’t even been charged with such an offense, and when you consider the fact that rogue left-wing prosecutors have charged him with all sorts of made-up crimes, that says something.”
Still, the fact that leftists are still floating this 14th Amendment nonsense indicates that they’re still trying to figure out some way to prevent Trump from walking back into the Oval Office on Jan. 20, 2025. Halperin observed: “It seems ill-timed, not just not in the spirit of the holiday season, but also given where we are in the transition cycle … we’re gonna see more of this. I think the left has been a little bit shocked by the election results. And I think as the reality of January 20th gets closer, I think you’ll see more opinionizing just like this.”
Halperin maintained that in scheming to thwart the will of the people, leftists were simply acting in accord with the will of the people. Asked why The Hill ran such an article, he answered: “I try not to speculate on people’s motives if I don’t have reporting, so I don’t really know. But again, The Hill likes to get attention, so that could be part of it. But it also reflects a point of view that’s held by tens of millions of Americans … I think that you’re gonna see more manifestations like this as we get closer to inauguration day.”
The problem is that leftists have floated this insurrection business before, and gotten nowhere. As Matt pointed out, Trump hasn’t been convicted of leading or supporting an insurrection. In fact, he hasn’t even been charged with doing so, and the Democrats certainly would have done so if they had thought they could get away with it. Many people don’t believe that what happened on Jan. 6, 2021, was an insurrection at all. Thus if Trump were really barred from taking office on those grounds, it would be a case of leftists going way out on a limb on the basis of a tangle of unsupported and highly partisan assertions.
American Leftists have lied about President Trump and his supporters for so long that they are utterly bereft. How will they make it through the new year? Will they proceed through the steps of grief and finally accept that they were in error and outside the bounds of rationality or will they get stuck in anger—the second stage of grief?1
For some the stage of bargaining has begun already. They are insisting that we, Trump and the MAGA movement, we who insist on the precepts of the Constitution and rule of law, treat our Leftists better than they ever treated Trump or us.
Remember how they projected their anti-American rage on all conservatives? How can we forget that the anti-Americans in control of our federal police apparatus and the Department of Defense (DOD) used taxpayer dollars to create lies about then-candidate Trump, then spread those lies through illegal leaks using the anti-American media?
There was the Russia Hoax. But “hoax” makes it sound like a joke. Something funny. But there wasn’t anything funny about it. It was an illegal use of American assets and taxpayer money to target a political candidate for destruction. Who has been held accountable? None of the players.
How about the Office of Net Assessment (ONA) at the DOD giving $1 million to a guy named Stefan Halper? ONA couldn’t provide the documentation supporting the payment to Halper or clearly explain what Halper did for that $1 million. The Inspector General investigated and found that Halper was somebody’s cutout. Oh yeah, this is the same guy the FBI used to spy on Carter Page and George Papadopoulos in 2016.2
The anti-American Leftists want us to forget about their crimes and misdeeds, such as labeling the events of January 6, 2021, an insurrection, led by President Trump. Odd, isn’t it, that no one has been charged or convicted of insurrection in the Department of Justice’s largest manhunt in history.
Trump, whom the anti-American Left and its media gang continue to label an insurrectionist, was the one who had the National Guard standby to help keep the peace on January 6. But D.C. Mayor Bowser and Capitol Police and then-Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, specifically indicated that they did not want the National Guard at the Capitol or the Mall. Who called for peace? President Trump. Who was more concerned about the optics? The anti-American Leftists, of whom Pelosi is one.
Is it hard to forget demented former President Biden standing in front of Independence Hall, with hellish lighting, calling Trump and his supporters insurrectionists and white supremacists? Or, Secretary for Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas’s bogus claims that domestic terrorism is the number one threat to America, while letting millions of illegal aliens cross our border, bringing criminals and terrorists with them?

The anti-American Left wants us to forget about the past eight years of incessant gaslighting, abuse of process (see J6 prosecutions, wrongful isolated detentions, FACE Act prosecutions), and their promise to stop the mandate given to Trump and Congress by the voters. An assistant Minneapolis police chief has filed a defamation lawsuit against Alpha News, objecting to her portrayal in the Alpha News documentary “The Fall of Minneapolis.”
In the lawsuit, attorneys for Minneapolis Assistant Chief of Operations Katie Blackwell described Alpha News as “extremists.”
“This lawsuit involves the politically motivated attack on a respected member of the Minneapolis Police Department who was maliciously defamed with respect to her performance of the duties of her employment and profession by extremists who are more interested in shaping a narrative and provoking outrage than in communicating any version of truth,” they wrote.
“Blackwell’s lawsuit underscores a significant problem. The Minneapolis Police Department seems to have a leadership problem, and in my opinion, a problem with the truth.”
“First of all, we have 33 former Minneapolis police officers and one current officer who have all sworn under oath that MPD actually trained the knee on the neck restraint and trained it as part of the maximal restraint technique,” Dr. Chaix said.
“Second, we also have plenty of MPD training photos and videos that show officers using a knee on the neck or shoulder area technique, much like Derek Chauvin did,” Dr. Chaix explained.
Yet, perhaps his most critical point involves the photos of Blackwell herself using a similar position while effecting an arrest: “Making this even more bizarre, there are photos in an MPD yearbook that show Katie Blackwell apparently doing the same technique.”

Republicans Stand Firm
As we have written about here and elsewhere, Minnesota Democrats have staged what is in effect an illegal coup in a desperate attempt to retain control over the state’s House of Representatives. Relegated to minority status because one of their candidates was caught cheating and therefore disqualified by a court, they have chosen not to participate, in hopes of bringing the House to a standstill.
Today the House convened for the opening of its 2025 session. All 67 Republicans were present; not a single Democrat chose to attend. Minnesota’s partisan Democrat Secretary of State, Steve Simon, has the ceremonial duty of convening the House. Simon abused that ceremonial role by purporting to find that there was not a quorum, and suggesting that the House should adjourn. That suggestion, which he has no legal authority to make, was based on absurd legal reasoning, as I explained in the post linked above.
Having delivered his ill-founded advice, Simon fled the premises. Republicans then took over. Majority Leader Harry Niska took the gavel and announced the presence of a quorum. The members who were present–all Republicans–then elected Lisa Demuth as Speaker. They adopted rules for the session and conducted a few other items of business, and will return tomorrow to continue the 2025 session.
At some point, the Democrats will come skulking back to the Capitol to assume their minority status. Meanwhile, the Republicans have called their bluff, and the Democrats’ attempt to bring the House to its knees failed. At the moment, there are only 67 sworn members of the House of Representatives, all Republicans. The Democrats held a fake swearing-in ceremony on Sunday afternoon, conducted off-premises by a retired judge. That farcical proceeding had no legal significance; the real swearing-in ceremony was conducted today in the Capitol, as specifically provided by state law. The Democrats didn’t show up.

Connecticut State Senator Bob Duff, a Democrat, introduced a bill alongside Ceci Maher, another Democrat State Senator, prohibiting school libraries from removing books and offering librarians immunity from any liability.
This bill, called S.B. No. 523, would allow pornographic books to be available in school libraries for children and prevent parents from suing the schools to prevent their distribution.
After our report went viral, Senator Duff went on X and clarified exactly what books he was talking about… Oh, wait. No, he didn’t.
Instead, he opted to call Libs of TikTok a “bigot” and pathetically attempted to justify his proposed bill.
