Its not that its a gateway drug, its that it's legal.. so now the cool kids all have to find something else to smoke or snort or they lose all their street cred..

Can't be cool doing LEGAL stuff.. to impress your peers, and the women (even the ones that think they are men) you have to do the ILLEGAL stuff. Can't be cigarettes.. can't be Pot.. what's next?
Meh,

Kids thought it was cool to smoke up until 20 years ago, and that was legal (for adults), kids think it's cool to vape today, and it's legal (for adults). I don't think legalizing weed (for adults) will change whether or not kids think it is cool or cause them to decide to move en masse to PCP or something else "harder".

Perhaps you should take a long walk through Denver or Henderson/Las Vegas and see the endless sea of young adults indulging in smoking weed.

My oldest son has a good friend who moved to Denver about 10 yrs ago. He tells me on his visits the stink of pot makes you want to get back on the plane. He said his last trip to CA was the same.

It's been like that in cities years before legalization/decrim efforts were popular.

Mark my words: in my lifetime we will see heroin and crack and acid and meth legalized on some level. AND we will be told that it's not that harmful.

Watch and see.

For extra points, I'll also bet it will be tied to racism.

For your consideration ...

I recall quite clearly being warned against pot when I was a teen, "Why do you think they call it dope?" because "This is your brain on drugs", so "Just say no."

But if you didn't see those messages there's nothing to argue about. They may not have had TV where you grew up, I have no way of knowing.
That was during the time when on the "war on drugs" was really ratcheting up. Nancy Reagan era. And it was referring mostly to cocaine and heroin.

The war on cannabis began using race as an issue to ban it in the early to mid 1900's. The government used black folk as the evil raving smokers (that they weren't) that would do bad evil things to white people while crazed out high to push through prohibition of it. Actually at first, it was taxed so high, Dept of the Treasury, no one would, could, pay for the tax stamp. Then later "proper" laws were created, devised, made, to make it illegal on the federal level initiating the way for the creation of the DEA.

But, it's just a natural plant, not unlike tobacco. Unlike cocaine that's been manufactured.

Well of course Vrai was wrong when she said that No one thought Marijuana was good.
The ones that thought it was good were users. just like now.
So tell me those who are not opposed to Marijuana -------------You are either a user now or have used it.
Now don't lie.

The ones who want drugs and Marijuana legalized now and say they should be legal are users or wannabee's
Tell me why they would make cigarettes into a demon and then want Marijuana.
There is no reason for it.
There may be some use for medical marijuana but do we need 20 grow buildings in Maryland to supply that need? This fight for Marijuana is a fight for big money.
The bunch that started this grow building in Abell were small the building was to be 10,000 sq, ft.
That grew to a building of 50,000 sq. ft with permits pending to build another 40,000 sq. ft.
with over a hundred low paid workers there in 3 shifts 24/7 coming in and out of the community at all hrs. of the night. The bunch that started this don't have that kind of funds. The big money boys from out of state have taken the reins.

Just like Maryland took away gambling from County business's and County owners and gave it to the big money boys at MGM. Is the county looking out for county people. Like the Government of Joe Biden that doesn't care about the United States, the people in Maryland running this fiasco don't give a damn about St. Mary's County, thet are looking forward to the big bucks , and screw the citizens.

Different times, different players. Same game. With the government today being the referee, and the rule maker.

OR they're pushers who make money off addicts. Like Larry Hogan and his pot cronies.

And then they come back like, "Oh, cigarettes and alcohol are just as addictive and destructive as drugs!" because that's what drugs do to you - kill your brain cells so you say stupid crap like that.

Are you kidding . :dork: Nothing was as bad as stepping off a plane and the stink hits you. I don't get that at BWI and its not like you said.
Use to work at K&A in Philly, walked the street lined with retail and clean pavement. Today not so much, the only retail are dealers.

Denver getting so bad they are forcing the food trucks to leave so as to lessen crowds. Yup losing our freedoms every damn day. I guess eventually we won’t be able to have concerts or weddings. All events limited to 15 people or less AND you must pay the gestapopo to act as security at these small gatherings.
