Derelict Car Removal From Public Road?

There is a broken down car in my neighborhood. Parked on the public county owned road. Been there for almost a year. Still has tags. Homeowner has been talked to by neighbors and the postman (it was blocking access to a mailbox). All they did was push it forward 5' to let the mailman get to the box. Is there a way to get it towed?

Try calling the sheriff's dept and claim it as a public nuisance? If the tags are still on it and they are valid, you may have an uphill battle.

As long as it has current tags, I don't think there's anything you can do. The only way around it would be to have the HOA amend the by-laws to "no street parking".

My first thoughts were "remove the tags and get it towed" and "torch it". Based on the legal ramifications of those actions, I decided to try legal removal efforts first. With it still having tags, I doubt there is much that can be done about it.

We have a couple of people in our neighborhood who insist on using the road as a driveway forcing people to drive on the wrong side of the road to get by. It's annoying, but evidently not against the law. Just rude...
