Deviled eggs

And a tip that I learned from mAlice:

When taking deviled eggs for a picnic or party, don't stuff them yet. Put the yolk mixture in a ziploc bag; then, when you get to the party, clip one corner of the bag and simply squeeze the filling into the egg halves. No more mess!

I do them that way too, whether I'm transporting them somewhere or making them ahead - so that the deviled part doesn't get a crust on it. Dukes, mustard, white vinegar, a pinch of sugar and sprinkle a bit of Old Bay to make 'em look pretty. Lately I've been adding a squirt of horseradish sauce, if I have some - we like that extra little bit of bite. Tried them with some avocado mixed in recently, but we all make that frowny face and decided not to do that again, no matter how many times we see it on Pinterest.

:lmao: I've always wanted to attempt those recipes bc deviled eggs and avocados are delicious separately but now I know :yay:

That's my recipe too...or I should say the recipe I copied from LT. The sugar and white vinegar are a must in my book.

Avocados are one of those things that I've decided I don't really like, so I've stopped buying them. That creamy mouthfeel is somewhat disgusting, and they don't really taste like anything until you make them into guacamole.

Oh no, me and my kiddo love them sprinkled with a little salt. However, the pinterest avocado stuff is ridiculous. We tried the bake an egg in them thing and it was not good. Hot avocado is not tasty.

that was by far one of the worst pinterest interpretations ever. I imagine similar results with any of those egg salad + avocado or chicken salad. nope.

But I do love a perfectly ripe avocado with some salt as a snack :yay: however I accidently let all my avocados get a little soft this week so looks like I'm having guacamole for dinner :jet: win-win.

I used a soft one to make like a green goddess dairy free dressing the other day, it was super tasty and T loved it. I made almost like a chimichurri with a bunch of herbs from the garden then blended in the avocado. paleo/whole 30 all that good stuff and it was so good on chicken and salad.

Where the heck do you get green goddess dressing?!?!? I miss that from my childhood. I love a perfectly ripe avocado sliced and drizzled with catalina or Russian dressing (not something I normally like). Or sliced thin on a whole grain sandwich with salt and pepper and some good mayo. I'm thinking that sammy would be amazing with green goddess dressing.

When we lived in Homestead, FL, we had an avocado tree in the yard. The big Haitian avocados, not the little ones from California. Used to love to make a shrimp salad or a nice chicken salad and serve it in an avocado. Man, that was living. :)

Kraft makes it. Can find at Walmart and maybe other grocery stores your area. I shop Publix down here in the South.

You can find it bottled a few places, but I made my own version with herbs and olive oil. and because im avoiding most dairy I added avocado to fill it out a little. Super tasty and customizable. I am not a huge fan of pulverized parsley (the base) so I didn't add as much and filled it out with more basil.

this recipe has dairy so i havent tried it yet but it looks pretty good.
