Deviled Eggs

Every time I try to hard boil eggs, they end up looking like something out of a horror movie. Peeling them, the shells never come "off" and they end up looking like something massacred them (ME!). It is ok if I am chopping them for potato or macaroni salad but you will never see me bringing deviled eggs to a gathering because they won't look appetizing!
I have tried so many different methods of boiling them with different times, have added vinegar to the water etc etc and just never get them right. I have seen recipes for baking them in the oven; does that work?
Please advise and share your success stories with eggs. I feel like such a failure :bawl:

You, my dear, are a prime candidate for an Instant Pot. Perfect HBE every time, shells slip right off.

Pressure cooker, like an Instapot, makes the best hard boiled eggs ever.

First off, if you don't own an Instapot, change that. Aside from deviled eggs, this is a kitchen item we put to use constantly. With the Instapot, this is all you need:

1. Put rack in the bottom.
2. Add 1 cup of water.
3. Add eggs.
4. Seal lid (of course).
5. Manual for 5 mins.

Let it pressurize and "cook" for 5 minutes. It will ding when it's done. Let it rest under pressure for 5 minutes. Bleed off. Take out bowl, add cold water and a few handfuls of ice (ice bath).

I'll cook a dozen or more at a time as I take 2 for breakfast each day. Even the last two peel easily and are cooked perfectly.

I usually boil mine for 5-10 minutes, depending how many you're boiling. After they boil, I dump the hot water and run cold tap water on them for a couple of minutes, than tap the narrow end to crack it and the shell comes off almost in one move.

I don't peel them right away and refrigerate instead since I use them a lot in my tossed salads. Maybe I should change that.

I sound super basic, but avocado toast!

whole grain bread toasted...smashed half an avocado spread on top, sprinkle some Everything But the Bagel seasoning, and top with slices of HB eggs :yummy: I thought it was gonna be weird but now its my favorite healthy "treat" breakfast.

Deviled egg flatulence is the worst. You have been warned. :geek:

To be clear *ahem* he is talking about the smell of the eggs themselves, not that anyone was flatulent after eating them.

:smack:

I'd doing deviled eggs for my son's rehearsal dinner tomorrow and just knocked out two dozen HBEs in the Instant Pot, EZPZ.
