diarrhea

My pediatrician told me it was okay to give him a teaspoon of Kaopectate when he has the 'rhea. It helps a lot...but be warned, it tends to make my son very sleepy so make sure you don't have anything pressing to do (I figure you don't have too many plans considering he's having a hard time getting to the bathroom and having a 3 year old w/ the 'rhea is pressing enough).

But seriously yogurt increases the absorption of calcium and vitamins that diarrhea will cause the child to lose more rapidly and is a popular remedy for diarrhea. Many pediatricians will recommend yogurt for children suffering from diarrhea and most children will recover faster from diarrhea when eating yogurt.

B.R.A.T. = Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast or Tea. It's worked for many a kids illness. Mostly, push fluids (nothing sweetened like juices or sugary soda's) to keep hydrated. As long as they aren't throwing up at the same time as diarrhea, they seem to do okay. Usually, by the time it's diarrhea, it's coming to the end of the illness, or at least that's what I've found.

Seriously! It's like everywhere I turn, someone is sick! You have to carry around a can of Lysol just so you don't transport anything back to your kids! Cold and Flu seasons SUCKS!
