My three year old has had diarrhea for a couple of days and has trouble getting to the bathroom in time. i was just wondering if anyone has been told by a doctor what medications 3 year olds can take. Ive heard they can have the immodium ad for children, but it says its for 6 years old and up. any advice would be great! thanks

Yogurt works. The good organisms or whatever fight the bad. I've used it with my son before when his dr. said to try it. It takes a little while but worked. I haven't tryed the immodium for kids but what about pepto for kids.

I was told pedialyte is not good for that because it causes it worse. Two pediatritions told me that.

Pedialyte and the BRAT diet are all I remember from those days. Wouldn't surprise me if things are different now though. Mine are 24 and 20... Old enough to take care of their own diarrhea. :yahoo:

Hi, Clear liquids and the brat diet are what he needs! It is good he wants liquids and that he is not vomiting-that way you don't have to worry about dehydration! Immodium actually isn't a good idea as it absorbs the fliuids in the intestine and make the bowel movement more formed looking. Great if you are stuck on a boat or something but if he is at home let the virus move out of his system!! Hope he feels better soon!!
