I think the best way to move on from a divorce is to do something you always wanted to do, but couldn't because of being married.

Take a dance class. Stay out all night carousing. Go on a vacation with a girlfriend. Order Chinese and eat it in bed while watching a movie. Flirt with that cute guy at the gym.

Whatever you want because now you CAN!!!

You'll do great, Dancin'. Just remember that there is a big world on the other side of your front door and be sure to get out there and experience it. Hook up with long-lost friends, go to dinner with old pals, hook up for happy hour with co-workers, volunteer at some of the organizations around here that desperately need help. But above all, the ONE and ONLY thing that will help heal your heart is the passage of time. Don't take so much time wallowing in your dispair, though, or it will envelop you. Good luck!

You will be fine, change really stinks when it's life altering, but we are programmed to deal with it even if it really hurts. Hang out with the friends who are not alienated by your split (I had a few married girlfriends drop me like I was a disease when I got separated, have not spoken to two of them since). You know, the pals who make life fun because you truly enjoy them. They will let you lean on them for a while.

When I split up I got contacts, lost 30 pounds, cut my hair and highlighted it, bought strappy sandals, some cool clothes, and a new horse. It all kept me busy and focused until I got over being a head case.

Remember that you have friends, and they care about you.
Make new friends. Go dancing. Get back to church. Flirt, if you feel like it - they will flirt back, even if nothing comes of it. Get some exercise. Don't bottle yourself up - my divorced friends have lots in common with my experiences, and we all don't have as much baggage as we seem to do.

Don't grouse about your ex. Keep in mind that new potential dates are not your ex, they will be funny and silly and a joy to be with, and if they're not, you don't have to see them again.

One of the weirdest feelings I had was realizing that I lived ALONE for the first time in my life and if I wanted to go out after work or even just skip town and fly across the country, I didn't have to report back to anyone. Being single means being able to do what you want, when you want, and loving every minute of it.
