Trump woke many people up, think about it.
Even if he doesn't run again, the expectation is there and the Republicans know they will not win in the future unless the attitude taken to office is Americans first.

I think it's a matter of perspective. On a wood working forum I frequent one of the members keeps saying the US has shifted so far right since 2008 he cant recognize it.
It would have to be a matter of perspective. Almost every student of history I know says we’ve been moving leftward as a nation for the last 100 years.
