 I was wondering the same thing when my couch was delivered, but they bolted out the door so fast I didn't get a chance to figure it out.

Are you supposed to tip dog groomers?

What percent do you tip your hairdresser?
I've never tipped a groomer. It's their business they are pocketing the money I give anyway.

I've never tipped a delivery person, though I always thought I should have.

As for my hairdresser. I usually give 20% ... if I walk out of there not feeling like I should hide!

I don't tip a percentage...usually $7 for a haircut and around $10 for a color.
Really.

I usually tip $20 for a color but I also have very thick hair and it takes a very long time for her to get it all done:lol:

I have thick hair too, but when I was getting it colored it was way short.

Me either. When you get furniture delivered, it usually has a fee associated with that service that you paid for at the time of purchase.
Even if it doesn't, the delivery is built into the price. I would only tip for exceptional service - polite, careful, speedy, and that little "go the extra mile" you sometimes get.

wow I must be cheap...I only tip about $5-7 dollars for a hair cut. Grant it, I've never gotten my hair dyed at a hair salon....

Speaking of hair color, can you get semi-permanent (i.e. the dye that "washes out" in about a month) at a hair salon? My hair is naturally brunette and VERY curly and I have dyed it twice with the month long stuff, both times the same color, a medium auburn. Both times I messed up. First too pink, then the next time very streaky...but it eventually washed out to the right color. I just don't want to get my hair permanent dyed...any suggestions???

I thought 15-20% was the norm for everything.

I tip my hairdresser and wait staff at restaurants....but no one else. I must be cheap or something. :ohwell:

When I bought my furniture it was at a Alexandria, VA furniture store and I lived here. The sales woman wanted the sale so bad (just $1300) that she ensured me they delivered to Lexington Park.

Because of the time (4hrs round trip) it would take the delivery man they did NOT want to let their delivery man do it on the weekend and I didn't get home evenings until 6pm and I refused to take off.

It took a month after the date I initially scheduled and at first they were shiating me about my furniture having a rip and then a replacement hadn't come in. All this stuff. So finally I got a lawyer and they delivered it within two days on a Sunday. The guy had to make two trips that Sunday and the following Sunday.

The driver (Marlo) was innocent in all of this, it was the store manager giving me a hard time. Marlo had to drive on a small pick-up that I believe was his own it was kind of new looking too. So because I knew the mileage etc. that was put on his ride, I went to Baja Fresh and bought him a $10 gift card and a Hallmark Thank you card. He was latino so I figured he would enjoy the gift card. Baja Fresh serves great latin foods and it was in a nearby shopping center in Kingstowne. And yes if someone brought me a gift card for soul food I would most definitely enjoy it. I wasn't stereotyping but personalizing.

In my opinion, if your delivery situation is near this much of a stretch, where the person is driving 4hrs twice by themselves and your furniture is undamaged then I say tip them accordingly.

Marlo was really surprised though when he saw me come back up to the store asking for him he was in the REAL delivery truck and told me that he was about to go on a delivery and basicly refused to get out of the truck or stop. I can't blame him because I had given the manager HE!! He told me he will be back in an hour and I ended up leaving the stuff for him and he sent me a text msg to my cell to thank me.

But I think in this situation we all would realize that someone doing this deserves SOMETHING for their trouble.

that was very nice of you to go out of your way to take care of the driver, especially after the ordeal of getting your stuff. My guy is just down the road. I hope you are enjoying your furniture!

I was going to ask if that was Marlo before I got to that ¶. I would only buy from those people if it was better than a fantastic deal and it will fit in my trailer..........or was that the drivers name?
