that was very nice of you to go out of your way to take care of the driver, especially after the ordeal of getting your stuff. My guy is just down the road. I hope you are enjoying your furniture!

You know I am enjoying my furniture a whole lot. Everything I got was a great deal and the saleswoman gave me discounts with this same manager's approval. But, if the delivery situation wasn't enough in addition they charged me double for my purchase. My checking account was debited $1295 twice once by the Virginia store and then the corporate office. How that happened I don't know.

It was he!! to get my money back to. My bank reimbursed me and researched the transaction, found it valid (don't ask) and reversed the credit. So, I asked the same lawyer to handle this case as well as the BBB. The woman in Customer Service stopped taking my calls didn't respond to my faxed bank statements, the lawyers calls or letters. It was almost hopeless.

I finally got my money back 6 months later by calling around until I got an Executive for the company (some good employee transferred me to him). We played phone tag for a day and then the next day the same lady from before called me saying she hadn't forgotten but that she has been so busy and my papers were lost on her desk. My money was finally returned within 3 days to my checking account.

That whole experience was a nightmare, but I was still able to see the good heart of the delivery driver. He surely could have dumped my furniture in some ditch before getting here and say he got robbed and refused to come back but he followed through.

I was going to ask if that was Marlo before I got to that ¶. I would only buy from those people if it was better than a fantastic deal and it will fit in my trailer..........or was that the drivers name?

No, it wasn't Marlo Furniture Marlo was the delivery man's name. The place was Nationwide Mattress and Furniture on Eisenhower Ave. I worked around the corner from there and went on my lunch break and then was canoodled by the saleswoman who was talking my language about the furniture I wanted. So I came back after work and once she promised delivery I was like oh yeah. I do believe my delivery was free. Marlo furniture has great furniture we use to have that furniture before here. No complaints.

This is a good reason to use a credit card.

My target place was Family Furniture but there were none near here. I think one of the two were in Waldorf Family Furniture or Nationwide. I went to a few places near here, one in Mechanicsville and her stuff was the exact same furniture as Family Furniture but WAY more expensive plus she said it had to be shipped from NY. I was done with her. I didn't look in Raley's because I hadn't heard of it before. I was willing to pay for delivery from Waldorf to here but Alexandria said they would do it I believe it was $75 now that I think about it. And it didn't matter the distance.

The furniture I got for what I paid nobody believes where I got it or what I paid. I still feel like I made out like a bandit but not without a little headache.

That is what I wonder. I used my Checkcard (Visa logo) and the bank seriously told me they don't see where the transaction was in error. It's like they believed that I went and bought the same products from Virginia and Georgia. I wrote them an email once my money was returned so that they can see they were wrong and they never responded.

I recently bought a couch from Raley's. They wanted $75 to deliver it five miles from their store, which I figured would go to the delivery guy instead of a tip? We went and picked it up instead.....What a crock.....But I love the sofa and got a really good deal on it on sale.

Good choice. Usually when I opt to take the less attractive road I usually splurge with what I save (a reward for my hard work lol).

It is so much better when we don't fall into their trap. It would be cheaper to pay someone with a truck to let you borrow it or help you do it. Five miles is robbery.

We had furniture delivered from a store in Delaware. They charged us &90. I thought that was a good deal for the miles.

It suppests for floral delivery, I used to work as a florist and have done numerous deliveries, I next to never was tipped by anyone.

I always tip when the guys take the time to ensure that the product(furniture, flowers, etc) is delivered the same way I bought it

I worked for a moving company in Northern Va and I know how hard it is for those guys....they definitely don't get paid what they should for the job that they do

A) It's been at least 22 months since you bought a new peice of furniture.

B) You had some delievered not so long ago, but got crappy service....

wow I must be cheap...I only tip about $5-7 dollars for a hair cut. Grant it, I've never gotten my hair dyed at a hair salon....

Speaking of hair color, can you get semi-permanent (i.e. the dye that "washes out" in about a month) at a hair salon? My hair is naturally brunette and VERY curly and I have dyed it twice with the month long stuff, both times the same color, a medium auburn. Both times I messed up. First too pink, then the next time very streaky...but it eventually washed out to the right color. I just don't want to get my hair permanent dyed...any suggestions???

I think I might be sorry to say, but Im realizing that I am really cheap. I have really short hair, takes her 15 min to cut so I only tip 2 bucks and the pizza kid gets a buck and change for getting out of the car.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think you should have to tip a person who delivers flowers. Someone is sending me a gift, and I have to tip the delivery guy? Not happening.

are you suppose to tip furniture delivery guys after they've brought in your stuff?

Poor delivery driver who gets your house. Not only does h/she have to "get of of the car" but they also have to drive to your house. I delivered pizza's for a friend's business several years ago. There were houses I knew that were cheap, and I'd always get stuck with them. Let's just say, I took my time 'cause I knew they were cheap.

I did when I got my furniture a couple of months. I gave them each $20. Considering how many pieces they carried in and set up, in the COLD rain and through the mud, and how careful they were with the pieces, it was well worth it. :yay:

Pizza guy likes coming to my house....always give at least $10 and all he/she has to do is drive up in the driveway....sometimes he doesn't even get out of the car

Then again, if I had 5 kids that looked like they hadn't eaten in a week coming toward me....I wouldn't get out of the car either :lmao:
