Do you walk your dog or just put them out?

Not judging because one's probably not better than the other as far as the dog is concerned. That Peke story made me wonder, though.

I always walk Apollo and he's never been on a chain outside unless I was working in the yard or right there with him. A lot of people in my 'hood walk their dogs as well; only a few have the pooch chained up outside or fenced in. The people next door to me always have their dogs out on a chain - I mean ALWAYS - but the dogs don't seem to mind.

So just curious how many walk their dog and how many send them out alone in the yard?

I walk the boys. Sometimes I'll let them out back quickly to potty and then right back in, but I'm always outside with them and close to them.

I don't have a dog, but as you can see, we obey leash laws.

You live in a neighborhood so that makes sense. I live in a secluded area so ours are let out without a leash, but with supervision.

i have a fenced in yard..when we are at home they go out back... but im out there as well.

I also take them for walks. This is a different for them... they get the bonding time with you and also gives their mind a run for the money as well (more on the mental side) They get to act like dogs, smell different smells and look to you for commands.

I do see a big difference when i just let them out back vs taking them to the dog park... and also if i take them for a walk. When we are done at the park or a walk they are more relaxed.

Two of my boys are on leashes and I walk them. My old man isn't on a leash :faint: but I am outside with him when he goes out. I just can't see leashing him when he's so old he can barely walk. He's out long enough to go, then he's ready to go back in. He can't handle the heat at all. 2 minutes and he's panting like he ran a marathon.

I walk my dog, and he's always on leash. However, lately I have been taking him out to go without his leash in the yard, but NEVER alone. He's so fast I'm scared he'll take off running and be hit. I would die a thousand deaths if that happened.
