Probably not a Fiat dealership, but rather a place that sold Fiats. Friend of mine in Abell was a Fiat nut and had several.

His name was Tony and he loved to fix them again … and again … and again.
I don't know why but I don't think it was a dealership - think their primary vehicle was another brand, but they did have Fiats there. I bought I copper colored one and when I wrecked that, I found a blue one on the same lot, both brand new. I don't remember a lot of mechanical problems with them but...it's been centuries ago.

Here's one for you @TPD. This will tell me how young you really are. Do you remember a couple of row home type looking buildings around the same place the Lexington Park Post Office is now? It was around the area where the Hub used to be, like across the street I believe. What businesses were in that area?

That was the old elementary school I believe before it moved across Rt 235 where the pass office at gate 2 is now.

You mean Frank Knox? Nah, that's the wrong area. There was a stationary store there, I believe a movie theater and a Mexican restaurant that served their Sangria in 50's style aliminumnumnum (probably spelled wrong) pitchers. It was ice cold and the best sangria I've ever had in my life bar none.

Ok if you are talking about the building that was directly across from the Hub, Linda’s, the old McKays grocery - this may be it. I thought it was frank knox elementary originally before moving.

The community building located next to the current Three Notch Theatre continued in public use as a library, post office, sheriff’s headquarters, branch office of the St. Mary’s County Board of Education and a St. Mary’s County Recreation and Parks programming space until razed in the late 1980s.

Trying to figure out exactly where you are talking about. Are you talking about places on Tulagi Place or are you speaking about across Coral Drive where the Plaza Theater was?

That's an interesting article, really good background stuff in there. This "The Navy dormitory built on Coral Place converted into the Lexington Park Hotel, a movie theater named Park Theater and a row of small shops. This bank of buildings was condemned in the late 1980s and razed in the 1990s" is exactly the place I'm talking about. I saw Jaws 3 in that movie theater, horrible movie btw, and ate God knows how many lunches in that Mexican restaurant. VP68 reservists used to go there on weekends and drink their lunch.

Thanks for posting that.

There were two Rosie's? I didn't know that.
First one fell victim to to an insurance payout...fire insurance, if I'm not mistaken...

As far as car dealerships on GMR...I remember there was a Hyundai dealership in the square for a brief time...where the old Roy Rogers was.
Also, where the SAVON gas station was, there was a used car lot; also for just a brief time...

Selling Volvos and Fiats in St. Marys.

In the 70s.

I'm not surprised it disappeared without notice.

That Savon was where a guy was murdered one night wasn't it?
